Dynamic Reconstruction of the Lower Lip With Free Functioning Gracilis Muscle Transfer
Abstract: The restoration of large full-thickness lip defects still remains a formidable challenge for the reconstructive surgeons. Traumatic injuries, infections and tumors (primarily squamous cell carcinoma) are the most common source of the lip defects. Lower lips are more important in providing oral competence, unfortunately throughout the life-time they are significantly more exposed to ultraviolet radiation and thus are the most common site for the lip cancers (89%). This type of defect requires a complex reconstruction of an adequate sphincter function, defined vermilion, proper oral lining and sufficient mouth ...

Photodynamic therapy as resource to control osteoradionecrosis in alveolar bone: a case report
A 38-year-old White male smoker for 20 years, diagnosed with lower lip cancer who underwent adjuvant radiotherapy (60 Gy) showed exposure and suppuration of the anterior region of the alveolar mandibular bone after 6 months after radiotherapy treatment. The size of the lesion was ±2 cm and caused fenestration of the buccal mucosa and bony with root exposition. A pulp sensitivity test of the teeth was performed and only teeth 25 and 26 were not vital. Based on radiographic and clinical features, the diagnosis was osteoradionecrosis. Deciphering miRNAs associated with cellular stress response and apoptosis mechanisms regulated by p53 activity in patients with lower lip cancer
Pathol Res Pract. 2022 May 28;236:153952. doi: 10.1016/j.prp.2022.153952. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCancers of the lips and oral cavity are a leading cause of death worldwide. Although they account for only 2% of the global cancer burden, they significantly affect the comfort of patients and eventually lead to a person's death. Also, defects in the cellular stress response and apoptosis mechanisms regulated by p53 activity is an important hallmark of cancer cells. Here, we aimed to decipher miRNAs associated with cellular stress response and apoptosis mechanisms regulated by p53 activity in patient with lower lip cance...
