I'm struggling badly
I just started in the ER at the hospital I will be beginning my inpatient job. I did a ton of ER work in residency but things are just hard right now. Granted I'm in a different city/state than I did residency, but not knowing any local resources, the local laws, the way local cops interact, etc. is just so much. This feels like intern year all over again but with actual responsibility so it's just much worse. I'm not sure what I'm even making this post for. Maybe just support. I dont know... Criminal Records on Secondary
“ATSU programs require a background check where all past court decisions will be listed. Please indicate if you have ever been charged (pending and/or dropped), fined or convicted of any crime for any reason (excluding traffic violations). Please include items that may have been dismissed or expunged. OR Cases Dropping
Anyone else notice a large reduction in elective cases the last week or so? We have been going full court press all year long but our OR schedules have slowed down considerable the last week and appear slow the next few weeks. One of our GI's told me his clinic is down 50% the last month. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Dr Nurse - I see both sides
https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/07/18/doctor-nurse-title-lawsuit-california/ I can see both sides to this. On one hand, if I spend the time getting a doctorate, I should be able to celebrate that fact in title. Do PhD professors get called Dr Smartypants when addressed? Jack Ryan (in the Tom Clancy series) is called Dr Ryan. BUT.... How does the Dr Nurse want to let the world know he/she isn't a physician? How do they propose we introduce ourselves to distinguish us... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Let's talk prenup
First of all, I'm not looking for legal advise I just want to educate myself. I have met recently with a financial planner and an CPA and notice that I sometimes have to ask them specific questions such as what about back door IRA or if I have a 1099 , can I take advantage of a Qualified Business Income? So I eventually going to see a lawyer but when I see him/her , I would like to have some more knowledge about this and that is the reason for this thread. A little bit about me, I'm 31... Thinking of getting sued is consuming me
I've been out of residency a few weeks now and the thought of a malpractice suit is killing me. It's on my mind in every patient interaction. I find myself bending over backwards to accommodate patients because I'm afraid of a potential lawsuit down the road. Everyday I go to work in wondering if today is the day something happens that leads to a suit. It feels unsustainable to work in a career where this is always going to be a concern. I never thought I'd be so impacted by this yet here I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
