Texas controlled substance verbal prescription
Hi, I’ve been out of practice for a bit and is just getting back to workforce, so I was trying to review my texas pharmacy laws. Seems like as of Jan 2021, ALL controlled substances must be electronically sent, unless they have exemptions/waiver. If prescribers have exemptions/waiver they are allowed send a written prescription for controlled substances, but it doesn’t allow them to call in unless emergency. then I read the definition of emergency is “the immediate administration of the... How to handle your first litigation
Hit with my first lawsuit from a case while I was a resident back in 2017. I live in Oklahoma where laws are ok. Apparently the law firm found a way to sue for personal injury and defamation of character due to 'improper and fraudulent physical exam' which led to lack of patient being able to acquire disability money for the time he was denied (stating i didn't say he was sick enough and he got declined because of that). They went around the med mal noting there was not malpractice and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

2022 Grad First job
Hello I am a new grad about to start my first job. I formally know the owner for the past five years as I have assisted him for couple of months in the past. He needs an associate who can handle his second office. He has not given me any contract, and everything is verbal at this point. I just want to know that if it's a good idea to start your first job without the contract and are there any legal implications that can put my license in Jeopardy if I start working without signing... Veterinary Assistant in NYS
Hi everyone! I couldn't find a similar answer when searching around the threads so here is my question: I am a veterinary assistant at a hospital right now and am responsible for restocking, cleaning, etc. But I have also been helping with administering subcutaneous fluids, running bloodwork, scrubbing patients in surgery, monitoring vitals, taking x-rays, filling medication (non-controlled) etc. In NYS (where I live), the laws are strict around unlicensed technicians (which is basically... Mistakes on medical license application
Hello all, I'm currently applying for Texas medical license. I just submitted my application couple hours ago, and suddenly I realized that I have answered 2 questions incorrectly (unintentionally). These questions have to do with criminal history section: 1) have you been arrested? 2) have you been convicted? So I did have a small misdemeanor history almost 10 years ago, and at that time I was NOT arrested (only charged to appear to court) and was NOT convicted (plea of guilty made that... Association of Anesthesiologist Staffing Ratio With Surgical Patient Morbidity and Mortality
This study's findings suggest that increasing overlapping coverage by anesthesiologists is associated with increased surgical patient morbidity and mortality. Therefore, the potential effects of staffing ratios in perioperative team models should be considered in clinical coverage efforts. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov Some of you doing high coverage ratios may be providing worse care. Lawsuit/bad outcome fears
So just started practicing independently in an inpatient setting and I'm really struggling. I'm second guessing and over thinking everything. Every discharge, every med order, I'm worried I'm forgetting to order the appropriate lab. I have this irrational fear of being sued and/or losing my license. How do you all deal with this and rationally conceptualize the liability? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Dismissed from medical school due to poor academic performance? Chance/how to appeal
So I just got dismissed from my school for failing both 1st and 2nd semesters of M1 (though I did pass some classes within the block, my overall block for both semesters was fail). I also failed the remediation exam because I only had 7 weeks to remediate 2 semesters worth of material. I am going to appeal and even consider lawyering up if it may help my case. I know it is normal to have to repeat an entire academic year, and I asked my promotions committee for that option, but I still got... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
