Spider telangiectasia or spider angiomas have a central red lesion with radiating dilatation of the distal, end vasculature that resemble arachnid appendages. They are common lesions (up to 38% in one study of children, and 60% in pregnant women), often solitary or < 3 lesions, and usually benign. Multiple lesions are characteristic of chronic liver disease. They can disappear over time (especially pregnancy related ones) but may not. The cause of these vascular lesions is unknown. Treatment is often not necessary, but laser treatments, fine needle electrocautery or electrodissection can be used.

Study Shows MIGS Makes up Nearly Half of Glaucoma Surgical Device Revenue
Micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) stents are quickly becoming the norm. A new study from Market Scope titled “2019 Glaucoma Surgical Device Market Report,†shows that MIGS stents account for almost half of all glaucoma surgical device revenue in 2019.
This is an even more impressive feat for the devices considering the loss of revenue that occurred from the Cypass Micro-Stent being recalled nearly a year ago. Researchers have fabricated the world’s smallest stent using a shape-memory polymer, with features that are 40-times smaller than existing stents. The device could be used to widen the urinary tract in a fetus and prevent life-threatening levels of urine from collecting in the bladder. Approximately one in every thousand children reportedly develop a urethral stricture, sometimes while they are still in the womb.
