Research Dilemma
Hello All! I am a newly accepted student to medical school. I have a current dilemma with my research experience. In March of this year, when I was finishing my prereqs, I took a biochemistry class and thought it would interesting to try out research since I have not previously done any research. The professor that taught the class does research and I joined his laboratory. I have been able to work with him since June but I found out that he does mostly teaching now and is really only... What are my Chances for this Cycle (DO cycle 2021-2022)?
Hi All! I am new to applying to med schools, as I was previously trying to apply for Physician assistant school and really never had my heart set on becoming a doctor until recently. Just a little back story: I am 24 y/o, graduated college in 2019, and have since worked in a clinical immunology laboratory as a med tech, and started working at the ER as an EMT. I originally had kind of convinced myself that PA school was right for me b/c I would get fewer loans as well as be able to treat... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Gap years: What have you guys done during a 2-3 year gap between undergrad and med school?
Hi! I'm a current third-year undergraduate student majoring in business/finance while taking prereqs. Very competitive GPA ( near 3.9), High Sci GPA of about 3.8. Multiple translational and clinical research laboratory experiences with a publication submitted as third author. It has pretty recently donned on me and my family that I'm not gonna begin studying for the MCAT until the Summer after I graduate because I want to get some biochem classes under my belt before studying (haven't... Prerequisite Laboratory Courses
I am preparing to apply to dental school in the upcoming cycle, but am worried about the lack of prerequisite lab courses on my transcript. For instance, by the end of this semester, I will have completed foundational chem 1&2 as well as orgo 1&2 but will be lacking the corresponding lab components for each set of courses. I am in this situation largely because I didn't want to waste credits (aka $$$) on silly "laboratory simulations" during these past few COVID semesters. Universities spend... Urgent Early VIRMP Submission Question
Hi everyone, I had a quick question...I'm applying to laboratory animal medicine residencies through VIRMP, the application for which is due tomorrow. I was looking for a way to submit the app once I uploaded my personal statement, but there doesn't look to be an overall submit button. I'm thinking this is just because the programs have access to your application once you hit apply to each school. But I wanted to confirm this just in case. All my application materials are in, references... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Orgo I, Microbiology, and Anatomy in 1 semester?
For the fall of 2020, I am scheduled to take organic I, gen. microbiology, and human anatomy, each with its own laboratory. Am I possibly making a mistake? This past semester I took cell biology, gen chem 2, and nutrition, and had no issues with As in each. Should I just shoulder the load, or replace one of these classes with physics 2? Thank you in advance. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

All PTE Courses Listed as Lecture Only on Transcripts
Hello all, Upon reviewing the PDF copy of my Professional Transcript Entry – I have noticed that every single undergraduate course I have taken is listed as “Lecture Only” – including those that are listed as exclusively laboratory courses (e.g. Biochemistry Laboratory, listed and graded as a separate course from Biochemistry Lecture, is listed as “Lecture Only” when it is inherently a laboratory-only component…). While the pre-requisite courses with seperated laboratory components on my... All PTE Courses Listed as Lecture Only on Transcripts (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Q: Bachelor's Degree from a Community College?
My younger brother is currently a HS senior graduating from a Highschool/CC-dual enrollment program. As a result, he additionally is graduating with an A.S. in Biology and has completed every premed pre-req at the community college setting. After graduation, he plans to continue at the CC which offers a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Science, as he is very interested in the field and this is the only institution offering this degree in our area. My brother is set on... Q: Bachelor's Degree from a Community College? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
