Minimally Invasive Techniques for Anastomosis in the Gastrointestinal Tract
Zentralbl Chir. 2024 Apr;149(2):157-160. doi: 10.1055/a-2284-6536.

Cancer of the Esophagogastric Junction: Double Tract Reconstruction - Evidence and Technique
Zentralbl Chir. 2024 Apr;149(2):202-208. doi: 10.1055/a-2284-6597. Epub 2024 Apr 2.ABSTRACTAdenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction (AEG) still represent a certain surgical challenge. In contrary to the trend of thoracoabdominal surgery for AEG I and AEG II cancer, the proximal gastrectomy is regaining popularity through new reconstruction methods such as the double tract reconstruction. Proximal gastrectomy followed by double tract reconstruction represents an alternative for the thoracoabdominal approach for suitable AEG II cancer and an alternative to the total gastrectomy for AEG III cancers. Latest studies sugge...

Impact of the Reflux Origin on the Clinical Stage and Surgical Decision in Primary Varicose Veins
Zentralbl Chir. 2024 Mar 20. doi: 10.1055/a-2251-1628. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTReflux and recirculation in primary varicose veins are not yet completely understood, and the contribution of perforator veins is dual.Reflux origin was assessed as junctional (JP, reflux of the greater saphenous junction or groin recurrences) with/without suspect perforator veins (SPV), or perforator phenotype (PP, reflux from SPV only or for statistical purposes from the small saphenous vein). Flow direction and intensity were recorded under Valsalva (JP) or as spontaneous/under distal compression/decompression (SPV) and weighted with on...

Endoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment of Early Mucosal Neoplasms in the Oesophagus
Zentralbl Chir. 2024 Mar 6. doi: 10.1055/a-2258-0531. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEndoscopy is the gold standard for diagnosis of oesophageal cancer and its precursor lesions. Besides this, endoscopy treatment of these precursor lesions and early oesophageal cancer has been well evaluated and established. This includes dysplastic lesions associated with Barrett's oesophagus and early adenocarcinoma, as well as early squamous cell cancer of the oesophagus. The role of endoscopy for diagnosis and treatment of these lesions is summarised.PMID:38447951 | DOI:10.1055/a-2258-0531 (Source: Zentralblatt fur Chirurgie)
