The First Korean Adult Case of Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis Type 7 with Novel < em > USP53 < /em > Splicing Variants by Next Generation Sequencing
Yonsei Med J. 2023 Dec;64(12):745-749. doi: 10.3349/ymj.2023.0161.ABSTRACTProgressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis (PFIC) is a group of rare genetic disorders caused by defects in biliary epithelial transporters. It mostly presents as low γ-glutamyltransferase cholestasis. Recently, USP53 has been identified as one of the novel genes associated with PFIC. Herein, we report a 21-year-old Korean male patient with a late-onset PFIC. Initial work-up, including whole genome sequencing, did not find any associated gene. However, reviewing sequencing data identified novel compound heterozygous variants in splicing site of U...

Drug Retention Rate and Factors Associated with Discontinuation of Interleukin-17 Inhibitors in Patients with Axial Spondyloarthritis
CONCLUSION: In patients with axSpA in whom TNFis failed, the long-term drug retention rate of IL-17is appears to be acceptable, with a 3-year drug retention rate of approximately 60%. Current smoking was associated with a higher risk of discontinuing IL-17is, whereas previous use of ≥3 TNFis was associated with a lower risk of discontinuing IL-17is.PMID:37992741 | PMC:PMC10681822 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2023.0151 (Source: Yonsei Medical Journal)

Clinical Features of Delirium among Patients in the Intensive Care Unit According to Motor Subtype Classification: A Retrospective Longitudinal Study
CONCLUSION: Managing and predicting delirium patients based on whether patients experienced non-hypoactive delirium may be clinically important. Variables obtained during the initial 48 hours can be used to determine which patients are likely to require invasive interventions.PMID:37992743 | PMC:PMC10681821 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2023.0113 (Source: Yonsei Medical Journal)

A Comparative Study of a Sternum-Sparing Procedure and Clamshell Incision in Bilateral Lung Transplantation
CONCLUSION: Less-invasive lung transplantation via sternum-sparing BAT is a safe procedure with low morbidity and favorable outcomes. Preventing sternal instability enables more stable breathing after surgery, earlier weaning from mechanical ventilation, and faster recovery to routine activities.PMID:37992745 | PMC:PMC10681828 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2023.0104 (Source: Yonsei Medical Journal)
