Does a collecting system injury with grade iv renal blunt trauma always need urinary intervention?
ConclusionThe initial CT protocol for trauma was useful for predicting the need for further urinary interventions for collecting system injuries. A perinephric mass thickness  <  25 mm is predictive of a low likelihood of requiring urinary intervention. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Bladder neck contracture following transurethral surgery of prostate: a retrospective single-center study
ConclusionBNC was a low-frequency complication following transurethral surgery of prostate. Preoperative UTI, BD, and B-TURP were likely independent risk factors of BNC. TUIBN combined with local multisite injection of betamethasone may be promising choice for BNC treatment. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Is multiparametric MRI always needed in biopsy-na ïve patients with abnormal digital rectal examination? A single-institutional experience combining clinical and micro-ultrasonography-based factors to optimize prostate cancer detection
ConclusionsThe combination of microUSTBx and SBx showed equal diagnostic performance to an mpMRI-based approach in biopsy-na ïve patients with an abnormal DRE. The combination of this approach with PSAd maximize the diagnostic accuracy while lowering the need for unnecessary biopsies. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

The association between computed tomography attenuation value of renal angiomyolipoma associated with tuberous sclerosis complex and response to everolimus
ConclusionThe unenhanced CT value of TSC-RAML showed an independent correlation with the response to everolimus, suggesting its potential as a predictor of everolimus efficacy in patients with TSC-RAML. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Prevalence and predictors of stone passage after double J stenting for symptomatic ureteral stones: a cross-sectional, real-life study
ConclusionStone passage occurred in 26% of patients with indwelling stent due to symptomatic ureteral stones. Lower stone density and distal stone location were independent predictors of stone passage. Patients with these criteria should be managed with follow-up imaging and stent removal instead of ureteroscopy. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Comparison of novel flexible and traditional ureteral access sheath in retrograde intrarenal surgery
ConclusionCompared to the traditional UAS during RIRS, the f-UAS showed several advantages, including higher SFR at 1  day postoperatively, shorter operative times, lower incidence of complications, and less use of basket. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Differential oral and gut microbial structure related to systemic metabolism in kidney stone patients
ConclusionThe structure and composition of the oral and gut microbiome in different types of kidney stone disease, the correlations between oral and gut microbiome, and the associations among oral and gut microbiota, systemic metabolism and clinical parameters imply an important role that the oral and gut microbiome may play in kidney stone disease.
