Comparison of two methods for CT-guided pulmonary nodule location before thoracoscopic surgery
CONCLUSIONS: Unlike breast localization needles, anchor localization needles can reduce pain and discomfort after positioning, and they are not easy to decouple. These 2 needles are safe for CT-guided localization, which can shorten the time of VATS and accurately aid in pulmonary nodule removal.PMID:38239574 | PMC:PMC10793156 | DOI:10.5114/wiitm.2023.133073 (Source: Videosurgery and Other Miniinvasive Techniques)

The consequences of laparoscopic fascial space priority approach to lateral lymph node dissection on urinary and sexual functionality
CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopic LLND using a fascial space priority approach can effectively protect the autonomic nerves. The procedure reduces short-term urination and sexual function, but it has little effect on long-term function.PMID:38239575 | PMC:PMC10793143 | DOI:10.5114/wiitm.2023.130532 (Source: Videosurgery and Other Miniinvasive Techniques)

Revisional bariatric procedures in the group of patients over 60 years of age: a multicenter cohort study (PROSS Study)
CONCLUSIONS: Revisional bariatric procedures in the group of patients over 60 years of age do not cause an increased risk of postoperative complications or prolonged hospital stay. The possibility of achieving remission or improvement in the treatment of comorbidities in patients operated on over 60 years of age is relatively lower compared to a younger group.PMID:38239577 | PMC:PMC10793152 | DOI:10.5114/wiitm.2023.133843 (Source: Videosurgery and Other Miniinvasive Techniques)

Nutritional care in patients undergoing laparoscopic/minimally invasive surgeries for gastrointestinal tumours
Wideochir Inne Tech Maloinwazyjne. 2023 Dec;18(4):625-638. doi: 10.5114/wiitm.2023.130468. Epub 2023 Aug 11.ABSTRACTThe introduction of minimally invasive surgeries for gastrointestinal tumours has been associated with many favourable postoperative outcomes and a reduced impact on nutritional status. The literature review begins by discussing the impact of minimally invasive procedures on the nutritional status of patients with gastrointestinal tumours, followed by indications for enteral nutrition (EN) in this population, including preoperative nutritional support and postoperative nutritional support. The review then exa...

Influence of staple line reinforcement on the occurrence of bleeding complications following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy: a retrospective analysis
CONCLUSIONS: This retrospective analysis suggests that continuous suturing may provide enhanced hemostasis along the staple line, reducing the risk of postoperative bleeding compared to clipping. Despite the longer operative time and a slightly higher rate of minor complications, the clinical significance of these findings should be considered within the context of individual patient risk profiles.PMID:38239579 | PMC:PMC10793147 | DOI:10.5114/wiitm.2023.133679 (Source: Videosurgery and Other Miniinvasive Techniques)

Systematic review and meta-analysis of low-dose CT-driven biopsy for pulmonary nodules
CONCLUSIONS: The diagnostic and safety results of low-dose CT-driven PN biopsy are equivalent to those of the standard one, although patients are much less exposed to radiation.PMID:38239580 | PMC:PMC10793150 | DOI:10.5114/wiitm.2023.131563 (Source: Videosurgery and Other Miniinvasive Techniques)

A modified laparoscopic lateral suspension with mesh for apical and anterior pelvic organ prolapse: a retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: We found mLLSM to be a safe and effective treatment for patients suffering apical and anterior pelvic organ prolapse. We found mLLSM to result in excellent outcomes and fewer mesh complications, underscoring its potential as an alternative treatment option for the management of apical and anterior pelvic organ prolapse.PMID:38239581 | PMC:PMC10793146 | DOI:10.5114/wiitm.2023.133777 (Source: Videosurgery and Other Miniinvasive Techniques)

Anesthesia-related postoperative oncological surgical outcomes: a comparison of total intravenous anesthesia and volatile anesthesia. A meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The present study concludes that TIVA is a more effective anesthetic agent than VA in obtaining better long-term oncological outcomes in cancer patients after surgery as it provides a higher overall survival rate, a higher recurrence-free survival rate and fewer post-operative pathological findings in patients who have undergone surgery for cancer as compared to VA.PMID:38239582 | PMC:PMC10793154 | DOI:10.5114/wiitm.2023.133916 (Source: Videosurgery and Other Miniinvasive Techniques)
