HPV-positive clinically advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder (aBSCC): A comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) study
CONCLUSIONS: HPV+ aBSCC tends to occur more often in younger patients. As reported in other HPV-associated squamous cell carcinomas, HPV+ aBSCC demonstrates significantly reduced frequencies of inactivating mutations in cell cycle regulatory genes with similar GA in MTOR and PIK3CA pathways. The implication of HPV in the pathogenesis of bladder cancer remains unknown but warrants further exploration and clinical validation.PMID:37821306 | DOI:10.1016/j.urolonc.2023.09.001 (Source: Urologic Oncology)

Sequential endoluminal gemcitabine and docetaxel for the treatment of clinically non-invasive high-grade upper tract urothelial carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: Gem/Doce demonstrates promising safety and efficacy as a renal-sparing treatment option for high-grade UTUC in appropriately selected patients.PMID:37805338 | DOI:10.1016/j.urolonc.2023.08.013 (Source: Urologic Oncology)

Bladder cancer patient and provider perspectives on smoking cessation
CONCLUSIONS: Bladder cancer patients utilize a variety of cessation strategies with "cold turkey" being the most used method, and many patients make multiple attempts at smoking cessation. Providers confront multiple barriers to conducting smoking cessation, including inadequate time and training in cessation methods; however, most would be willing to receive additional education. These results inform future interventions tailored to bladder cancer clinicians to better support provider efforts to provide smoking cessation counseling.PMID:37805339 | DOI:10.1016/j.urolonc.2023.08.017 (Source: Urologic Oncology)
