Endothelin A (ETA) receptors expressed in renal blood vessels (small and intermediate arteries) of renal transplant patients are connected with acute tubular necrosis (ATN) or antibody mediated rejection (AMR)
The role of non-HLA named anti-ETAR antibodies is discussed as potentially significant but their role is not established. The significance of the ETA receptor and its expression in renal biopsy has not been described yet.We decided to evaluate the presence and relevance of the ETA receptors in renal transplant biopsy for cause. The aim of our study was to evaluate the immunoreactivity of ETA receptor and its significance in patients who had a renal transplant biopsy due to deterioration of transplant function (biopsy for cause) with detailed characterization of staining in small and intermediate arteries of renal transplant...

The transplant coordinators' opinions regarding the decreasing indicator of organ donation from deceased donors in Poland
Despite the good overall condition of Polish transplantation medicine, like elsewhere in our country there is a shortage of organs for transplantation. The situation of healthcare is also in stage of development with problems like not sufficient funding and lack of personnel. The number of 526 organs were in 2015 in Poland, distinctly lower than in the year 2014, when it reached 594 organs. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Mode of delivery in patients after liver or kidney transplantation
Pregnancy following renal or liver transplant is safe for the mother, fetus, and allograft if standard practice guidelines are strictly followed. Caesarean section is often required for the safety of the mother and child. The aim of this paper was the evaluation of mode of delivery in patients after liver (G1) and kidney transplantation (G2) in comparison with population of healthy pregnant women (G0). Assessment of Arterial Stiffness and Body Composition in Stable Liver Transplant Recipients
Arterial stiffness and central arterial pressure are an important parameters in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. The tendency of patients after liver transplantation to above normal BMI values promotes the development of arterial stiffness and lipid disorders. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

The importance of new generation sequencing (NGS) HLA typing in renal transplantation – preliminary report.
Thanks to the new generation screening (NGS) and expansion of HLA typing with additional loci it will be possible to increase the effectiveness of graft survival and to avoid complications related to the immune system. New pharmacogenetic factors are still researched to develop better immunosuppressive treatment. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Using the AMMS ( Asseco Medical Management Solutions) program to monitor patients after kidney transplantation
In Poland there is an average of 2.31 doctors per 1 000 population (according to OECD 2016), which is one of the lowest results in all of the European Union countries. With the persistent low number of specialists the quantity of patients and their medical records keeps increasing. In order to facilitate the work of doctors and to improve monitoring of the patient, most medical institutions decide to implement IT systems. At Department of General and Transplant Surgery of Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin we have been using Asseco Medical Management Solutions (AMMS) system for 5 years. Frequency of human papilloma virus (HPV) occurrence among pathological changes of the oral cavity in kidney allotransplant recipients undergoing long-term pharmacological immunosuppressive therapy
Recipients of allotransplants are more susceptible to viral infections, among which the human papilloma virus infection is an independent factor inducing precancerous lesions and cancers of both the anogenital and the cervicocephalic region. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Modularity and blended methodology on Master education for donation and transplantation
Transplant Procurement Management and the University of Barcelona offer a Master in Donation and Transplantation since 2004. The aim of the study is to analyze the number of participants, their profile and scores to evaluate improving measures introduced since 2011, when the modular structure was stablished.Data is organized in 3 groups: number of participants, profile and scores in each module. The variables for the profile are gender, nationality and background. According to the number of participants, since 2011 127 professionals were trained, with a decrease in the last editions (21; 20; 15). (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Effect of Vasoactive Therapy Used for Brain-Dead Donors on Graft Survival After Kidney Transplantation
Serum catecholamine levels and peripheral vascular resistance decrease after brain death. Vasoactive drugs are used to control these hemodynamic changes and to improve perfusion of the organs. These drugs might have a role in rejection or loss of the graft organ. We aimed to investigate the effects of vasoactive drugs used in the cadaveric donor care on post-transplant renal graft functions. In this retrospective study, medical records of 135 cadaveric donors (270 kidneys) and recipients of these kidneys were evaluated. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Preliminary study of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells pretreatment with erythropoietin in preventing acute rejection after rat renal transplantation
Renal transplantation is currently the most effective treatment for end-stage kidney diseases, and acute allograft rejection is well treated with high dose prednisolone and immunosuppressive agent, but long-term use of immunosuppressants will be detrimental to the long-term survival of the transplanted kidney and will have a lot of side effects on the human body. Thus, a local and alloantigen-specific immunological tolerance may be a promising approach to improve kidney transplantation. The aim of this study is to examine the therapeutic potential of transforming bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) pretreate...
