Deceased organ donor screening for human immunodeficiency virus, hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus: Discordant serology and nucleic acid testing results
ConclusionsThis study highlights the importance of robust quality assurance to minimize NRP NAT results. NAT may allow for increased utilization of organs from HBV‐ and HCV‐seropositive, NAT‐negative donors. (Source: Transplant Infectious Disease)

Long ‐term follow‐up of post renal transplantation Epstein‐Barr virus‐associated smooth muscle tumors: Report of two cases and review of the literature
Abstract Epstein‐Barr virus (EBV)‐associated smooth muscle tumors (SMTs) following solid organ transplantation are very rare slow growing neoplasms. Most tumors present with non‐specific symptoms mainly related to tumor location. Post‐transplant EBV‐associated small muscle tumors have been reported in various anatomical locations. The tumors have a predilection to unusual sites for SMTs and tend to be multifocal. The histologic appearance of these tumors generally does not predict their clinical behavior. Surgery and reduction in immunosuppression are the main stays of management. We herein report two cases of po...

Early infections in the intensive care unit after liver transplantation ‐etiology and risk factors: A single‐center experience
ConclusionInfections represent a major cause of early postoperative morbidity and mortality. The impact of single risk factors and the results of their preoperative management should be further investigated in order to reduce the incidence and evolution of postoperative infections. A simplified regimen of targeted antifungal prophylaxis in liver transplant recipients: a single ‐center experience
ConclusionsThe implementation of a simplified targeted prophylaxis regimen appeared to be safe and applicable and was associated with low IFI incidence and mortality. Association of IFI with reoperation and renal replacement therapy calls for further studies to identify optimal prophylaxis in this subset of patients. This article is protected by copyright. Comparison of Risk Factors and Outcomes of Daptomycin ‐Susceptible and ‐Nonsusceptible Vancomycin‐Resistant Enterococcus faecium Infections in Liver Transplant Recipients
ConclusionsLTRs who develop DNS‐VRE infection have higher bleeding complications and longer, more complex hospitalizations compared to those who develop DS‐VRE infection post‐transplantation; however mortality at 30 days and 6 months is not significantly worse. Further study is needed to determine optimal strategies for the prevention and treatment of DNS‐VRE infections in LTRs.This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. Risk factors for Clostridium difficile infection in intestinal transplant recipients during the first year post transplant
ConclusionsPPI administration might be protective for CDI in ITR. Risks factors for CDI might be different in ITR compared to other populations; anatomical differences and medications administered in the post‐transplantation period may affect intestinal microbiota. This article is protected by copyright. Single ‐center outbreak of pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia in heart transplant recipients
ConclusionsWe described a large PJP cluster among HTx recipients, supporting the nosocomial acquisition of PJP through interhuman transmission. Based on this experience, extended prophylaxis for more than 6 months after HTx could be considered in specific settings. Further work is required to understand its optimal duration and timing based on individual risk factor profiles and to define standardized countermeasures to prevent and limit PJP outbreaks. This article is protected by copyright.
