Variances in Antiviral Memory T-Cell Repertoire of CD45RA- and CD62L-Depleted Lymphocyte Products Reflect the Need of Individual T-Cell Selection Strategies to Reduce the Risk of GvHD while Preserving Antiviral Immunity in Adoptive T-Cell Therapy
Conclusion: Taken together, our results indicate that CD45RA depletion is a more suitable strategy for generating TN-depleted products consisting of memory T cells against ppEBV_EBNA1 and ppAdV_Hexon than CD62L in terms of depletion effectiveness, T-cell functionality and alloreactivity. To maximally exploit the beneficial effects mediated by antiviral memory T cells in TN-depleted products, depletion methods should be selected individually according to phenotype composition and CD4/CD8 antigen restriction. TN-depleted DLIs may improve the clinical outcome in terms of infections, GvHD, and disease relapse if selection of p...

Laboratory Monitoring of Mother, Fetus, and Newborn in Hemolytic Disease of Fetus and Newborn
Background: Laboratory monitoring of mother, fetus, and newborn in hemolytic disease of fetus and newborn (HDFN) aims to guide clinicians and the immunized women to focus on the most serious problems of alloimmunization and thus minimize the consequences of HDFN in general and of anti-D in particular. Here, we present the current approach of laboratory screening and testing for prevention and monitoring of HDFN at the Copenhagen University Hospital in Denmark.Summary: All pregnant women are typed and screened in the 1st trimester. This serves to identify the RhD-negative pregnant women who at gestational age (GA) of 25 wee...

A Cross-Sectional Study of Blood Donors ’ Psychological Characteristics over 8 Weeks
Conclusion: While the frequency of psychological effects following blood donation identified by our study was comparable to others, the changes of the psychological state in our donors were traceable for a longer period than previously acknowledged.Transfus Med Hemother (Source: Transfusion Medicine and Hemotherapy)

COVID-19 Repeated Convalescent Plasma Collection: Analysis of 149 Donations from 88 French Military Health Workers
Conclusion: The recruitment of young patients with a mild to moderate CO VID-19 course is an efficient possibility to collect CP with a satisfactory level of neutralizing antibodies. Repeated donations are a well-tolerated and effective way of CP collection.Transfus Med Hemother (Source: Transfusion Medicine and Hemotherapy)

Application of Blood Group Genotyping by Next-Generation Sequencing in Various Immunohaematology Cases
Conclusion: NGS-based blood group genotyping can be used for identifyingABO subgroup alleles, low levels of blood group chimerism, and antibodies to HFAs. Furthermore, it can be applied to extended blood group antigen matching for patients treated with anti-CD47 drugs.Transfus Med Hemother (Source: Transfusion Medicine and Hemotherapy)

Interferon Gamma Secretion of Adaptive and Innate Immune Cells as a Parameter to Describe Leukaemia-Derived Dendritic-Cell-Mediated Immune Responses in Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in vitro
Conclusion: Ultimately, the IFNy secretion of innate and adaptive immune cells appeared to be a suitable parameter to assess and monitor the efficacy of in vitro and potentially in vivo acute myeloid leukaemia immunotherapy. The CSA in this regard proved to be a convenient and reproducible technique to detect and phenotypically characterise IFNy-secreting cells. In respect to our studies on DC-based immunomodulation, we were able to display the potential of DC/DCleu to induce or improve leukaemia-specific and anti-leukaemic activity.Transfus Med Hemother (Source: Transfusion Medicine and Hemotherapy)

Comparison of a New IgG-EIA for the Detection of Anti-Plasmodium Antibodies with Two Currently Used Assays
Conclusion: The comparison of the new EUROIMMUN ELISA and the established CAPTIA ™ Malaria EIA (Trinity Biotech) and Malaria EIA (BioRad) used for routine blood donor screening in two laboratory blood donation centres revealed that all tested ELISAs show comparable sensitivities and are equally suitable for anti-Plasmodium antibody screening in blood banks.Transfus Med Hemother (Source: Transfusion Medicine and Hemotherapy)

Detectable SARS-CoV-2 RNAemia in Critically Ill Patients, but Not in Mild and Asymptomatic Infections
Conclusion: Our observations support the hypothesis that there are no potential hazards from blood or plasma transfusion of SARS-CoV-2-positive individuals with mild flu-like symptoms and more importantly of asymptomatic individuals.Transfus Med Hemother (Source: Transfusion Medicine and Hemotherapy)

Donors for SARS-CoV-2 Convalescent Plasma for a Controlled Clinical Trial: Donor Characteristics, Content and Time Course of SARS-CoV-2 Neutralizing Antibodies
Conclusion: We demonstrate the feasibility of collection of a large number of CCP products under a harmonized protocol for a randomized clinical trial. Titers of neutralizing antibodies were stable or increased over time in a subgroup of repeat donors. A history of higher number of COVID-19 symptoms and higher levels of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG and IgA antibodies in immunoassays can preselect donations with higher neutralizing capacity.Transfus Med Hemother (Source: Transfusion Medicine and Hemotherapy)

Relationship of SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic with Blood Groups
Conclusion: Our results are in agreement with other studies suggesting that blood group O individuals are somewhat more resistant to clinically overt infection with SARS-CoV-2 than other blood groups. However, this tendency is not sufficiently established to allow special prophylaxis recommendations for non-O individuals.Transfus Med Hemother (Source: Transfusion Medicine and Hemotherapy)
