A study on diagnostic performance of different immunohematological diagnostic tests in assessing the prevalence of ABO Hemolytic Disease of Newborn in the antenatal O group mothers and their neonatal outcome in a tertiary care hospital in Northern India
This study was done to assess the prevalence of ABO-HDN and to compare different immunohematological tests. Methods-In this study 213O group mothers and the 122 ABO-incompatible newborns born to them were included. Quantifying the maternal IgG anti-A/anti-B antibody titer was done by Conventional Tube Technique (CTT) using Dithiothreitol (DTT) pretreated maternal serum. I-JAMM-(I): A survey providing an insight into the practices of isoagglutinin titration in ABO incompatible kidney and liver transplantation
ABO-incompatible transplantations allow patients to receive timely transplants. Isoagglutinin titration to ascertain levels of incompatible antibodies in the recipient is important in determining patient selection and transplant survivability. To find out the prevalent trends in India, the largest, first of its kind survey was carried out among the transplant centers regarding their practices in isoagglutinin titration. The Italian registry of therapeutic apheresis in SISTRA: year of activity 2022
Therapeutic apheresis refers to a group of extracorporeal blood processing procedures used in the treatment of a variety of systemic diseases. These complex procedures are burdened by adverse reactions related to both procedures and underlying medical conditions.Given the importance of centralizing the collection and the analysis of information on therapeutic apheresis, the Italian National Blood Center (NBC), at the request of the Italian Scientific Society of Hemapheresis and Cell Manipulation (SIdEM), implemented the Italian Registry of Therapeutic Apheresis (IRTA) including it in the Information System of Transfusion S...

In situ and in vitro evaluation of two antiseptics for blood bank based on chlorhexidine gluconate/isopropyl alcohol and povidone-iodine
Poor disinfection is the main cause of blood contamination, so its elimination is key to limiting the entry of bacteria into the collection system. With the advancement of antiseptic technology, antiseptics with sterile, disposable applicators are now available. (Source: Transfusion and Apheresis Science)

Use of Therapeutic Apheresis methods in Neurology patients
The therapeutic apheresis consists of a continuously improving therapeutic method for diseases with high mortality and morbidity, especially in cases with poor outcome by using current medications. Neurology is one the most famous and at the same most interesting era of apheresis intervention in clinical practice. (Source: Transfusion and Apheresis Science)

Use of Therapeutic Apheresis methods in ICU
Apheresis is a modern medical approach in which plasma or cellular components are separated from the whole blood. Apheresis can be either diagnostic or therapeutic. Diagnostic apheresis is typically applied in hematology and cancer research. Therapeutic Apheresis (TA) includes a broad spectrum of extracorporeal treatments applied in various medical specialties, including Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Considering the complexity of the pathophysiologic characteristics of various clinical entities and in particular sepsis, apheresis methods are becoming increasingly applicable. Editorial Commentary
The “ What's Happening” section has been instrumental in increasing awareness about new developments in laboratory diagnostics for the treatment of patients requiring transfusion. We have achieved this by inviting experts in their fields to share their experience on how to better diagnose and treat patients using more personalized precision transfusion approaches. By working with some willing experts we hope to better understand how to provide a service to our readers and will pursue the lessons learned as we move forward.
