NMNATs expression inhibition mediated NAD < sup > + < /sup > deficiency plays a critical role in doxorubicin-induced hepatotoxicity in mice
In conclusion, NAD+ deficiency due to NMNATs expression inhibition may attribute to the pathogenesis of DOX-induced hepatotoxicity, thus providing new insights for mitigating DOX side effects.PMID:38160893 | DOI:10.1016/j.taap.2023.116799 (Source: Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology)

Vitamin C enhances the sensitivity of osteosarcoma to arsenic trioxide via inhibiting aerobic glycolysis
Toxicol Appl Pharmacol. 2023 Dec 30;482:116798. doi: 10.1016/j.taap.2023.116798. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOsteosarcoma (OS) is a common malignant tumor disease in the department of orthopedics, which is prone to the age of adolescents and children under 20 years old. Arsenic trioxide (ATO), an ancient poison, has been reported to play a critical role in a variety of tumor treatments, including OS. However, due to certain poisonous side effects such as cardiotoxicity and hepatotoxicity, clinical application of ATO has been greatly limited. Here we report that low doses of ATO (1 μM) observably reduced the half-effecti...

Effects of exposure to the neonicotinoid pesticide clothianidin on mouse intestinal microbiota under unpredictable environmental stress
This study revealed that the combined exposure to CLO and stress not only amplifies their individual effects on intestinal microbiota but also demonstrates combined and multifaceted toxicities.PMID:38160895 | DOI:10.1016/j.taap.2023.116795 (Source: Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology)

The effect of shikonin on the metabolism of lapatinib in vitro, and in vivo
CONCLUSION: We developed an UPLC-MS/MS assay for simultaneous determination of lapatinib and its metabolites. It could be successfully applied to the study of pharmacokinetic interaction of shikonin on the inhibition of lapatinib metabolism in vivo and in vitro. In the end, Further studies are needed to determine if such interactions are indeed valid in humans and if the interaction is clinically relevant.PMID:38160892 | DOI:10.1016/j.taap.2023.116797 (Source: Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology)
