Hematologic characteristics and coagulopathy in pregnancy with COVID-19 succeeding the first wave: a multicenter retrospective cross-sectional study
CONCLUSION: Our findings add valuable insights into the nature of hematologic test characteristics, bleeding, and thrombotic complications for those affected with COVID-19 in pregnancy, reassuring readers of the low incidence of bleeding and thrombotic complications but inviting further debate as to the degree of thromboprophylaxis that may benefit the subgroup with severe disease.PMID:38426027 | PMC:PMC10901829 | DOI:10.1016/j.rpth.2024.102339 (Source: Thrombosis and Haemostasis)

Impact of thrombosis location on walking capacity: a cohort study of patients with acute deep vein thrombosis
CONCLUSION: Suprainguinal DVT was linked to a more pronounced walking impairment compared with infrainguinal DVT. Limited walking capacity was associated with a reduced quality of life.PMID:38419653 | PMC:PMC10899038 | DOI:10.1016/j.rpth.2024.102324 (Source: Thrombosis and Haemostasis)

Racial differences in ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke: An ecological epidemiological study
CONCLUSIONS: Based on this ecological epidemiological study, racial differences in stroke incidence were robust to a variety of statistical analyses, regardless of the subtype. This suggests the need for region-specific approaches to stroke prevention.PMID:38423097 | DOI:10.1055/a-2278-8769 (Source: Thrombosis and Haemostasis)

Factor V variants in bleeding and thrombosis
Res Pract Thromb Haemost. 2024 Jan 26;8(1):102330. doi: 10.1016/j.rpth.2024.102330. eCollection 2024 Jan.ABSTRACTA state-of-the-art lecture titled "Factor V variants in bleeding and thrombosis" was presented at the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) congress in 2023. Blood coagulation is a finely regulated cascade of enzymatic reactions culminating in thrombin formation and fibrin deposition at the site of injury. Factor V (FV) plays a central role in this process, as its activated form is an essential procoagulant cofactor in prothrombin activation. However, other molecular forms of FV act as antic...

CONCLUSION: Our results indicate that some commercial ELISAs can be used to measure mouse TF levels in cell lysates but they cannot detect TF in plasma or EVs from endotoxemic mice.PMID:38404939 | PMC:PMC10883813 | DOI:10.1016/j.rpth.2024.102325 (Source: Thrombosis and Haemostasis)
