Multicenter evaluation of the haemostatic activity of emicizumab in patients with severe haemophilia A
CONCLUSION: Using a modified TGA, this study showed that patients who experienced breakthrough bleeds while on emicizumab had a lower thrombin generating capacity compared to others with good clinical response to emicizumab.PMID:38583717 | DOI:10.1016/j.jtha.2024.03.022 (Source: Thrombosis and Haemostasis)

Unmet needs and barriers in venous thromboembolism education and awareness among people living with cancer: A global survey
CONCLUSIONS: This study involving a large and diverse population of individuals living with cancer identifies important unmet needs in VTE-related education, awareness, and support across healthcare systems globally. These findings unveil multilevel opportunities to expedite patient-centered care in cancer-associated VTE prevention and management.PMID:38582384 | DOI:10.1016/j.jtha.2024.03.019 (Source: Thrombosis and Haemostasis)

The effect of administering preprocedural VITamin K on the international normalized ratio in patients anticoagulated with ACEnocoumarol (VITKACE-study)
CONCLUSIONS: Using oral vitamin K while patients continue acenocoumarol intake is an effective way to adequately lower INR before an invasive procedure. Low amount of bleeding complications and absence of thromboembolic complications suggest that this is a safe strategy. The INR-values returned gradually to therapeutic range after the procedure, probably contributing to the observed low bleeding rate.PMID:38580096 | DOI:10.1016/j.jtha.2024.03.016 (Source: Thrombosis and Haemostasis)

Machine learning-based predictive models for patients with venous thromboembolism: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: ML-CPMs show promise in improving risk assessment and individualized treatment recommendations in VTE. Apparently, there is an urgent need for standardized reporting and methodology for ML models, external validation, prospective and real-world data studies, as well as interventional studies to evaluate the impact of AI in VTE.PMID:38574756 | DOI:10.1055/a-2299-4758 (Source: Thrombosis and Haemostasis)

Clinical impact of dyspnoea after ticagrelor treatment and the effect of switching to clopidogrel in patients with myocardial infarction
CONCLUSIONS: Dyspnoea is a common side effect among ticagrelor-based DAPT in AMI patients. Switching from ticagrelor to clopidogrel after 1 month in AMI patients may provide a reasonable option to alleviate subsequent dyspnoea in ticagrelor-relevant dyspnoeic patients, without increasing the risk of ischaemic events (NCT02018055).PMID:38574757 | DOI:10.1055/a-2299-4537 (Source: Thrombosis and Haemostasis)

Transcriptional and functional profiling identifies inflammation and endothelial to mesenchymal transition as potential drivers for phenotypic heterogeneity within a cohort of Endothelial Colony Forming Cells
CONCLUSION: We observed a range of different RNA expression patterns between ECFC clones mostly associated with inflammation and clear differences in WPB count and structure. We developed a qPCR panel which can be used for the characterization of ECFC clones which is essential for the correct analysis of pathogenic mechanisms in vascular disorders.PMID:38574861 | DOI:10.1016/j.jtha.2024.03.018 (Source: Thrombosis and Haemostasis)
