Gene Expression Array Analyses Predict Proto-Oncogene Expression During Perineural Invasion in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma
CONCLUSION: This analysis showed that 9 core genes including JUP, CALM1, NES, EPHA2, ARF1, ORM2, TERT, IL18, and CXCL3, as well as NES/VEGF signaling pathway, have a relationship with the development process of perineural invasion in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Cox analysis and overall survival analysis suggested differentiation as an independent prognostic factor and key roles for these 9 hub genes in perineural invasion prognosis in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.PMID:38454277 | PMC:PMC10837604 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2024.21430 (Source: The Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology)

Association of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Fatty Liver Disease with Cognitive Impairment and All-Cause Dementia: A Comprehensive Review
Turk J Gastroenterol. 2024 Feb;35(2):76-82. doi: 10.5152/tjg.2024.23629.ABSTRACTMetabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a significant public health concern, affecting one-third of the global population and posing a risk for progressive liver disease. MAFLD is characterized by hepatic steatosis and impaired metabolic status, which not only impact the liver but also other systems of the human body, making it a multisystemic disorder. Emerging evidence suggests that MAFLD and its associated pathological pathways may contribute to cognitive impairment, potentially through neuroinflammation and neurodege...

Acupuncture Versus Biofeedback for Treatment of Functional Anorectal Pain
CONCLUSION: Both acupuncture and biofeedback therapy reduced the pain of patients with functional anorectal pain. Biofeedback provided more relief in patients with pelvic floor dyssynergia, and acupuncture provided greater improvements in mental health status.PMID:38454239 | PMC:PMC10895862 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2024.22516 (Source: The Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology)

Investigation of Clinical, Laboratory, Imaging Findings and Histopathological Features of Patients w ıth Gastric Neuroendocrine Cell Hyperplasia
CONCLUSION: Neuroendocrine tumor development rate was found to be 4.3% in the background of neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia. Two factors predicting progression from neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia to neuroendocrine tumor can be elaborated as the presence of polypoid appearance due to neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia as confirmed via endoscopy and dysplasia as confirmed via histopathological examination.PMID:38454240 | PMC:PMC10895882 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2024.22681 (Source: The Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology)

Nine-Gene Prognostic Signature Related to Gut Microflora for Predicting the Survival in Gastric Cancer Patients
CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate the 9 differentially expressed genes related to gut microflora might predict the survival time of patients with gastric cancer. Both risk signature and nomogram could effectively predict the prognosis for patients with gastric cancer.PMID:38454241 | PMC:PMC10895821 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2024.23063 (Source: The Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology)

A Plasma Exosomal Metabolic Profiling of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Patients Complicated with Impaired Fasting Glucose
CONCLUSION: Metabolomic analysis of plasma exosomes revealed a distinct change in fatty acids and related pathways in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease patients with impaired fasting glucose. These preliminary results provide a metabolomic snapshot and basis for further investigation of exosome biology for these patients.PMID:38454244 | PMC:PMC10895878 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2024.22739 (Source: The Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology)
