Incidence and Survival for Patients Diagnosed With Breast, Colorectal, and Lung Cancer in an Integrated System
Conclusions Incidence rates for all-stage and localized-stage BC were consistently higher for Kaiser Permanente than for SEER. CRC and LC rates were lower. Kaiser Permanente survival rates were consistently higher than for SEER. The strengths of these findings are associated with the ability to capture "gold-standard" cancer registry data on defined Kaiser Permanente populations. However, findings should be interpreted cautiously given differences in the underlying populations and secular and regional differences between Kaiser Permanente and SEER. The Kaiser Permanente population is younger and more racially diverse than ...

Short- and Long-Term Weight Loss Among Women is Unrelated to Completed Exercise Within an Obesity Intervention Focused on Self-Regulation
Conclusion Results suggest attainment of government-recommended amounts of exercise are not associated with significantly greater weight loss than lower amounts of exercise within an intervention focused on self-regulation. Associations of exercise with psychosocial correlates of weight loss should be a treatment consideration.PMID:37718609 | DOI:10.7812/TPP/23.043 (Source: The Permanente journal)

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Early Mobility Program: Impact on Patient Functional Status
Conclusion PICU early mobility was associated with increased physical, occupational, and speech therapy orders and daily mobility activities but was not associated with a reduction in functional morbidity at discharge or 3 months post-discharge.PMID:37695848 | DOI:10.7812/TPP/23.010 (Source: The Permanente journal)

Real-World Use of Electronic Patient-Reported Outcome (ePRO) Tools Integrated in the Electronic Medical Record During Radiation Therapy for Head and Neck Cancer: Feasibility Study
Conclusion For patients with HNC receiving RT, ePROs can be effectively utilized to address patient symptoms within an integrated health care system. Creating an infrastructure for the use of ePROs integrated within the EMR in routine care requires an approach that accounts for local workflows and buy-in from patients and the entire care team.PMID:37635460 | DOI:10.7812/TPP/23.046 (Source: The Permanente journal)
