Epidemiology of Exposures, Preceding Illness and Testing History in Children With Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children in the First 18 Months of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Los Angeles County, California
We describe the epidemiology of COVID-19 exposure, preceding illness, and SARS-CoV-2 testing in a large population with MIS-C during the first 18 months of the COVID-19 pandemic. The majority of cases had exposure, preceding illness, or positive SARS-CoV-2 testing 4–8 weeks before MIS-C onset. Serology can help establish epidemiological link to COVID-19 when past infection or exposure are unknown. (Source: The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal)

Investigating Health Disparities Associated With Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children After SARS-CoV-2 Infection
Conclusions: In this study, non-Hispanic Black children were more likely to develop MIS-C after adjustment for sociodemographic factors, underlying medical conditions, and weight-for-age. Investigation of the potential contribution of immunologic, environmental, and other factors is warranted. (Source: The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal)

Maraviroc Population Pharmacokinetics Within the First 6 Weeks of Life
Conclusions: While maraviroc apparent clearance is decreased in the first few days of life, the current FDA-approved maraviroc weight band dosing provides maraviroc exposures for neonates in the first 6 weeks of life, which were consistent with adult maraviroc exposure range. Maraviroc provides another antiretroviral treatment option for very young infants. (Source: The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal)

Epidemiology of Norovirus in the First 2 Years of Life in an Australian Community-based Birth Cohort
Conclusions: Norovirus infections, particularly GII, are common in Australian children 6–23 months of age. Estimates of norovirus incidence, including symptomatic infections and healthcare utilization in community settings in young children, are crucial for planning norovirus vaccine programs and determining vaccine effectiveness. Health and Vaccination Status of Unaccompanied Minors After Arrival in a European Border Country: A Cross-sectional Study (2017–2020)
Background: Unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) are a high-risk group for infectious diseases and information on their vaccination status is scarce. Different approaches are used to screen newly arrived minors in Europe. The aim of this study was to describe the health status and serological protection against different vaccine-preventable diseases among UASC to inform public health decision-making. Methods: Retrospective study of all UASC seen at an international health reference center in Barcelona (Spain) between January 2017 and February 2020. Screening results were analyzed using binary logistic reg...

Changes in Bronchiolitis Incidence During the Last Two Decades in Tampere, Finland: A Retrospective Study
Background: Bronchiolitis, a lower respiratory tract infection, causes a remarkable number of hospitalizations globally. The epidemiology follows the same pattern as respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), the most common pathogen in bronchiolitis. Epidemics have typically followed a biannual pattern in Nordic countries—first, a small epidemic during spring, followed by a higher peak the next autumn. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether the incidence of bronchiolitis hospitalization has changed during the last 2 decades in Tampere, Finland. Methods: In this retrospective register-based study, data on infan...
