Episiotomy: Are Indian Obstetricians Getting the Angle Right?
ConclusionsKnowledge surrounding the recommended episiotomy angle is lacking. Doctors are failing to estimate their desired episiotomy angle. This highlights the need for national guidelines, the creation and validation of structured training programmes to improve accuracy, or using fixed-angle devices such as the EPISCISSORS-60 or other proven measurement aids to minimise preventable harm due to human error. Vaginal Dose Reduction by Changing the Ovoid Loading Pattern in Image Guided Intracavitary Brachytherapy of Cervix
ConclusionReducing ovoid loading significantly decreased the doses to vaginal dose points and the rectum without compromising the dose to the Clinical Target Volume (CTV). Therefore, in carefully selected cases, the adoption of tandem-only loading or reduced ovoid loading could be considered to minimize vaginal morbidity following high dose rate intracavitary brachytherapy. Hysteropathological Correlation in Abnormal Uterine Bleeding in a Tertiary Care Hospital in South India
ConclusionHysteroscopy has high sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing intrauterine pathology especially endometrial cancer followed by endometrial polyps. Among the various patterns of abnormal uterine bleeding, menorrhagia was the most common. A combination of hysteroscopy and endometrial sampling was found to increase diagnostic accuracy in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding and will effectively guide us in planning the appropriate management for these patients. MPNST of Uterine Round Ligament: A Report of a Surgically Challenging Aggressive Rare Case and Literature Review
AbstractMPNSTs (malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumours) arise rarely from the female genital tract, even more rarely from the uterus. A literature review showed 18 cases affecting the uterine cervix, but only four affecting the uterus per se, making our present case the fifth to be involving the uterus, specifically round ligament. It was the first time a uterine lesion (not uterine cervix) was defined in a neurofibromatosis patient. This was a young patient who initially underwent a uterus-sparing surgery for a round ligament tumour which was finally diagnosed to be MPNST. She received adjuvant chemotherapy but recurre...

A Case of Successful Management of Peripartum Cardiomyopathy
AbstractPeripartum Cardiomyopathy is a rare type of cardiomyopathy that occurs during late pregnancy or in early postpartum period and is a life threatening condition. It presents with heart failure secondary to left ventricular systolic dysfunction. Here the LVEF is< 45%, with/without LV dilatation. The condition shows overlapping symptoms with pregnancy related pathology like preeclampsia, myocarditis or underlying genetic diseases and hence underestimated. Underlying pathophysiology is poorly understood with lack of specific biomarkers. Timely diagnosis and multidisciplinary team approach helps in determining the out...

Correlation of Serum Cancer Antigen-125 (CA-125) Levels with Severity of Pre-eclampsia
ConclusionSerum CA-125 levels were found to be higher in the severe pre-eclampsia group as compared to non-severe pre-eclampsia and normotensive group, but the difference was not statistically significant. More studies on a larger scale are required to prove the usefulness of this marker with respect to maternal and perinatal outcome as well as its association with pre-eclampsia and its severity.
