Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a common issue in women, affecting approximately 50% of women by the age of 50 with a reported lifetime risk of surgery for as high as 19%. Due to its high success rate and durability, laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy is considered a cornerstone of management of such patients. Conventional wisdom has been that concomitant hysterectomy, at the time of apical prolapse surgery, decreases the risk of recurrence and eliminates the need for future management of uterine and cervical pathologies.
