Enhancing Self-Advocacy After Traumatic Brain Injury: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Conclusions: Individuals living with chronic TBI sequelae can increase self-efficacy specific to self-advocacy, general self-efficacy, and satisfaction with life, through a TBI-specific intervention aimed at empowering individuals to advocate for their own needs and wishes. Sustaining gains over time may require ongoing community collaboration and support. This could involve community-based systems of self-advocacy education, resources, and peer support. Vocational Outcomes After Traumatic Brain Injury; Prevalence and Risk Factors After 1 Year in a Multivariable Model
Objective: To determine the prevalence of employment status (ES) or full-time study after traumatic brain injury (TBI) in a representative population and its predictive factors. Design: Prospective cohort study. Setting: Regional Major Trauma Centre. Participants: In total, 1734 consecutive individuals of working age, admitted with TBI to a Regional Trauma Centre, were recruited and followed up at 8 weeks and 1 year with face-to-face interview. Ankle Power Generation Has a Greater Influence on Walking Speed Reserve Than Balance Following Traumatic Brain Injury

Research Letter: Characterization of Older Adults Hospitalized With Traumatic Brain Injury Admitted to Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals
Conclusions: There has been limited characterization of the hospitalized TBI population admitted to LTACHs. Our findings among older adult Medicare beneficiaries suggest this population is highly medically complex and are seldom discharged home after their LTACH stay. There are also notable geographic variations in LTACH TBI admissions across the United States. More research is warranted to understand long-term functional outcomes among this population. Modulation of Metacognitive Confidence Judgments Through Provision of Performance Feedback in Moderate to Severe Traumatic Brain Injury
Conclusion: Provision of feedback during learning enhances recognition performance. However, target memory experiences may be utilized differently after injury to facilitate confidence judgments. In addition, the type of feedback provided may have different effects on metacognitive accuracy. Global Disability Trajectories Over the First Decade Following Combat Concussion

How CARE Tools Are Being Used to Address Brain Injury and Mental Health Struggles With Survivors of Domestic Violence
Conclusion: CARE tools were designed for lay use to address head trauma, strangulation, and mental health struggles with DV survivors and are free for download at the Center on Partner Inflicted Brain Injury website: https://www.odvn.org/brain-injury. More widespread use of these tools by advocates has the potential to improve services for DV survivors and address what have historically been invisible injuries and mental health struggles in the population. Neural Correlates of Traumatic Brain Injury in Women Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence: A Structural and Functional Connectivity Neuroimaging Study
Conclusion: Significant differences in brain structure and connectivity were observed in individuals with IPV and TBI. A greater mean cortical thickness of the paracentral gyrus was associated with TBI due to IPV than TBI from other etiologies. Although preliminary, findings from this pilot study present a step toward identifying potential mechanisms by which IPV and TBI secondary to IPV impact brain health in women. Prevalence and Risk Factors for Intimate Partner Physical Violence–Related Acquired Brain Injury Among Visitors to Justice Center in New York
Conclusions: Consistent with previous findings, our data indicate a high prevalence of IPV-related ABI among visitors to a New York Justice Center. An overrepresentation of African Americans/Blacks and refugees in our sample relative to the region signified a higher prevalence of IPV in these populations and warrants a provision of more trauma-informed ABI resources to these groups/communities. Epidemiology and 6- and 12-Month Outcomes of Intimate Partner Violence and Other Violence-Related Traumatic Brain Injury in Major Trauma: A Population-Based Trauma Registry Study
Conclusion: The incidence of IPV-related major trauma with TBI was low. However, the prevalence of severe TBI, the time to key aspects of clinical care, in-hospital mortality, and longer-term work-related disability were higher.
