Diagnosis of Ulnar Neuropathy at the Elbow Using Ultrasound —A Comparison to Electrophysiologic Studies
Given the relatively high false negative rate of electrodiagnostic studies (EDX) in patients with clinically diagnosed ulnar neuropathy at the elbow (UNE), we sought to determine whether an alternative objective test could more effectively detect UNE. Additionally, we proposed to determine the relationship between the cross-sectional area (CSA) of the ulnar nerve on ultrasound  (US), EDX, and clinical symptoms. The Moderating Effect of Age on Patient-Reported Benefits From Operative Management of Intra-Articular Distal Radius Fractures: A Meta-Regression Analysis
The optimal treatment of intra-articular distal radius fractures in older adults (>65 years) remains uncertain despite numerous randomized trials. The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effect of age on patient-reported benefits of volar locked plating versus cast immobilization for intra-articular distal radius fractures. Intramedullary Fixation of Hand Fractures  and Arthrodeses
Intramedullary fixation has long been popular for fracture fixation in the upper extremity from the shoulder through the carpus. Recently, intramedullary fixation in the hand has gained increasing interest, specifically in the metacarpals and phalanges, corresponding with the development of improved cannulated headless screw technology. Along with the advantages of increased operative speed and less surgical dissection, which can promote rapid healing, many benefits exist, supporting their use despite some drawbacks. Health Disparities in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery: A Scoping Review
Social determinants of health (SDOH) are linked to poor health care outcomes across the different medical specialties. We conducted a scoping review to understand the existing literature and identify further areas of research to address disparities within hand surgery. (Source: The Journal of Hand Surgery)

Assessing Bone Mineral Density Using Radiographs of the Hand: A Multicenter Validation
Osteoporosis and fragility fractures incur substantial costs to quality of life and global health care systems. The current gold standard for quantifying bone density is dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Our hypothesis is that bone density can be accurately predicted with a simpler method using plain radiographs of the hand. (Source: The Journal of Hand Surgery)

The Relationship Between Patient-Reported Outcomes and Patient Satisfaction With Ligament Reconstruction Tendon Interposition
Achieving the minimal clinically important difference (MCID) on an outcomes instrument and reporting satisfaction with surgical outcomes are not equivalent. We hypothesized that improvement exceeding the QuickDASH and PROMIS UE CAT MCID is associated with a greater likelihood of reporting satisfaction with ligament reconstruction tendon interposition (LRTI) treatment. Our secondary hypothesis was that a subset of patients failing to meet MCID would still be satisfied. (Source: The Journal of Hand Surgery)
