Association between MTHFR microRNA binding site polymorphisms and methotrexate concentrations in Chinese pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia
ConclusionsThe rs3737966 and rs35134728 polymorphisms in MTHFR were associated with serum MTX concentrations. The findings indicated miRNAs might be involved in the post‐transcriptional regulation of MTHFR. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)

Association of incretin receptors genetic polymorphisms with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Egyptian patients
ConclusionsWe reveal for the first time an association between the GIPR rs2302382 polymorphism and T2DM in Egyptians. Yet, there was no significant association of GIPR rs1800437 or GLP‐1R rs367543060 with T2DM risk. The haplotype A (rs2302382) C (rs1800437) was associated with an increased risk of T2DM. Furthermore, there was a significant increase of GIP and a significant decrease of GLP‐1 levels when diabetic patients were compared with controls. An important finding was that there was a relationship between both GIPR rs2302382 and rs1800437 variants and their cognate ligand levels. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)

Correlation analysis of the HLA ‐DPB1*05:01 and BTNL2 genes within the histocompatibility complex region with a clinical phenotype of psoriasis vulgaris in the Chinese Han population
ConclusionsThe results of the present study indicate that the HLA‐DPB1*05:01 gene was associated with the geographical region of PV and the BTNL2 gene was significantly associated with family history and age of onset of PV. In conclusion, the HLA‐DPB1*05:01 and BTNL2 genes might be responsible for the complicacy of clinical features. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)

MMP ‐3 (‐1171 5A/6A; Lys45Glu) variants affect serum levels of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)‐3 and correlate with severity of COPD: a study of MMP‐3, MMP‐7 and MMP‐12 in a Tunisian population
ConclusionMMP‐3 (‐1171) 5A/6A and Lys45Glu (A/G) polymorphisms were associated with the decline of lung function among COPD patients. These results could be linked to the upregulation of MMP‐3 in serum from COPD patients carrying the ‐1171 6A and 45G homozygous genotypes. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)

Sustained secretion of anti ‐tumor necrosis factor α monoclonal antibody from ex vivo genetically engineered dermal tissue demonstrates therapeutic activity in mouse model of rheumatoid arthritis
ConclusionsThe results of the present study report microdermal tissues engineered to secrete active adalimumab as a proof of concept for sustained secretion of antibody from the novel ex vivo gene therapy TARGT platform. This technology may now be applied to a range of antibodies for the therapy of other diseases. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)

Genetic Factors are Stressed Variably by Onset Age ‐based Sample Selection in Psoriasis: A Hint from MHC Region‐based Analysis
ConclusionsOnset age‐based sample variables would influence the results of genetic association study, at least in MHC region‐based genetic analysis. We would make more cautions in sample selection for genetic association study in order to prevent confounders which might be caused by onset age. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)
