Development & amp; validation of scales to assess stigma related to COVID-19 in India
CONCLUSIONS: Validity and reliability of the two stigma scales indicated that the scales were comprehensible and had moderate internal consistency. These scales could be used to assess COVID-19 stigma and help in the development of appropriate stigma reduction interventions for COVID-19 infected, and mitigation of stigmatizing attitudes in the community.PMID:35645090 | DOI:10.4103/ijmr.ijmr_2455_21 (Source: The Indian Journal of Medical Research)

Clinicopathological study of annexin A5 & amp; apelin in pre-eclamptic placentae with emphasis on foetal outcome
CONCLUSIONS: The results of the present study suggest that both ANXA5 and apelin levels are reduced in pre-eclamptic placentae. Hence, it is recommended to further explore the impact of these markers on pregnancy outcomes by undertaking randomized controlled trials.PMID:35645092 | DOI:10.4103/ijmr.IJMR_433_21 (Source: The Indian Journal of Medical Research)

Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 promoter sequence variations in idiopathic osteonecrosis of head of femur
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings demonstrate that the minor alleles of promoter region sequences of the PAI-1 gene do not contribute to an increase in ONFH predisposition. However, this is a preliminary study and its findings should be considered as suggestive for studies to be done in a larger sample size.PMID:35645093 | DOI:10.4103/ijmr.IJMR_496_19 (Source: The Indian Journal of Medical Research)

Leptospirosis in central & amp; eastern Uttar Pradesh, an underreported disease: A prospective cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: Leptospirosis was found to be one of the important causes for acute febrile illness in the central and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. The results of the present study suggest that it is necessary to increase diagnostic facility and awareness in clinicians for the screening of leptospirosis in acutely febrile patients to decrease morbidity and mortality associated with this disease.PMID:35647944 | DOI:10.4103/ijmr.IJMR_1811_19 (Source: The Indian Journal of Medical Research)

Neutralization assays for SARS-CoV-2: Implications for assessment of protective efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines
Indian J Med Res. 2022 May 6. doi: 10.4103/ijmr.ijmr_2544_21. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe WHO emergency use-listed (EUL) COVID-19 vaccines were developed against early strains of SARS-CoV-2. With the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOCs) - Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Omicron, it is necessary to assess the neutralizing activity of these vaccines against the VOCs. PubMed and preprint platforms were searched for literature on neutralizing activity of serum from WHO EUL vaccine recipients, against the VOCs, using appropriate search terms till November 30, 2021. Our search yielded 91 studies meeting the inc...
