Minimally invasive transurethral holmium laser surgery for the management of an IUD with bladder migration
CONCLUSION: That the secondary bladder calculus were smashed by intense pulse mode of holmium laser, and the bladder tissue around the attached IUD was opened by cutting mode of holmium laser, and finally the IUD was completely removed from urethra, this surgical method is safe and effective, and there is no case report on IUD removal of transurethral cystoscope in the literature.PMID:38284985 | DOI:10.1080/13625187.2023.2298357 (Source: The European Journal of Contraception and Reproductive Health Care)

Knowledge of non-contraceptive benefits of and willingness to consider taking oral contraceptive pills among a low-risk female population: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: As women with greater knowledge of non-contraceptive benefits of OCPs are more likely to consider taking them, knowledge gaps regarding OCPs should be filled, so that more women may reap the non-contraceptive benefits of OCPs.PMID:38284986 | DOI:10.1080/13625187.2023.2300944 (Source: The European Journal of Contraception and Reproductive Health Care)

Impact of a post-partum family planning intervention on contraception and fertility in Tanzania: two-year follow-up of a cluster-randomised controlled trial
CONCLUSION: The intervention provided women an additional contraceptive choice, resulting in higher use of PPIUD over two years. Increase in PPIUD use was brought about by shifting methods, not creating new modern contraceptive users.PMID:38230668 | DOI:10.1080/13625187.2023.2290985 (Source: The European Journal of Contraception and Reproductive Health Care)

Contraceptive switch and abandonment among women using the pill, condoms and injectables in Brazil
CONCLUSION: Contraceptive method switching and abandoning are frequent outcomes of contraceptive use. Understanding the factors that shape women's decisions to continue or discontinue the use of a contraceptive method can help tailoring comprehensive contraceptive counselling that meet their expectations and reproductive needs when starting using a method.PMID:38108084 | DOI:10.1080/13625187.2023.2289831 (Source: The European Journal of Contraception and Reproductive Health Care)

Hormonal contraception for female athletes presents special needs and concerns
CONCLUSIONS: OCs can be safely used by young female athletes, who may also benefit from better menstrual cycle control. OCs offer newly realised protection from ACL injuries. The use of OCs must be carefully individualised according to their preferences, expectations, and experience.PMID:38108091 | DOI:10.1080/13625187.2023.2287960 (Source: The European Journal of Contraception and Reproductive Health Care)
