Safety and efficacy of prophylactic anticoagulation versus therapeutic anticoagulation in hospital ‐admitted COVID‐19 patients: A systematic review and meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials
ConclusionOur study shows that therapeutic dose anticoagulation is more effective in preventing thromboembolic events than prophylactic dose but significantly increases the risk of major bleeding as an adverse event. So, the risk –benefit ratio must be considered while using either of them. (Source: The Clinical Respiratory Journal)

Mansoor's Self ‐Report Tool for Cardiovascular Risk Assessment predicts adverse in‐hospital events in patients with pulmonary embolism
ConclusionsPrognostic performance of the Mansoor's Self-Report Tool for Cardiovascular Risk Assessment for risk stratification of PE patients was poor and not able to identify those PE patients, who might benefit from systemic thrombolysis. However, the Mansoor's Self-Report Tool for Cardiovascular Risk Assessment was moderately helpful to identify PE patients at higher risk for bleeding events. Tuberculin skin test and interferon ‐γ release assays: Can they agree?
ConclusionAs both tests can present false-negative results, the low level of agreement between the tests can potentially help identify more cases of LTBI if the two tests are used in parallel, with infections not detected by IGRA possibly being detected by the TST and vice versa. The value of concentration of alveolar nitric oxide in diagnosing small airway dysfunction in patients with stable asthma
ConclusionCANO has diagnostic value for small airway dysfunction, and the optimal cutoff value is 5.3  ppb. However, the diagnostic evidence is still insufficient, so it still needs further exploration for its value in detecting small airway dysfunction. (Source: The Clinical Respiratory Journal)

Can physical exercise assist in controlling and reducing the severity of exercise ‐induced bronchospasm in children and adolescents? A systematic review
ConclusionThe studies analyzed in this review did not enable drawing a conclusion regarding the influence of physical exercise on EIB in asthmatics. The lack of clinical trials on EIB and physical exercise, as well as the difficulty in methodological standardization for EIB diagnosis evidence the lack of scientific knowledge in this area, serving as a stimulus for researchers to find more consolidated answers. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is associated with an increased risk of herpes zoster: A retrospective United States claims database analysis
This study reviewed 2013 –2018 US insurance claims data to compare the incidence rates of herpes zoster among people 40 years and older with and without chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Adjusting for baseline demographics and clinical characteristics, this study found that people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were nearly three times more likely to develop herpes zoster than those without. AbstractChronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has been reported as a potential risk factor for developing herpes zoster (HZ). We aimed at comparing incidence rates of HZ between people with versus without COP...

Screening for obstructive sleep apnea before coronary angiography
ConclusionOSA screening before CAG revealed a higher prevalence in CHD patients than in non-CHD patients. The degree of coronary artery obstruction is positively correlated with AHI, and AHI  ≥ 20 is a risk factor for CHD. Therefore, attention should be paid to OSA screening and management before CAG in patients with suspected CHD. (Source: The Clinical Respiratory Journal)

‘Teach me how to look after myself’: What people with bronchiectasis want from education in a pulmonary rehabilitation setting
ConclusionsWe have identified unmet educational topics of interest for people with bronchiectasis. Our study provides a framework for education topics desired by adults with bronchiectasis within a pulmonary rehabilitation setting. The topics identified will guide development of an education curriculum for pulmonary rehabilitation that is more fit-for-purpose for people with bronchiectasis.
