Clinical activity in general practice prior to sarcoma diagnosis: Australian cohort study
Conclusion Sarcoma patients have increased GP clinical activity from 6 months pre-diagnosis, indicating a diagnostic window where potential opportunities exist for earlier diagnosis. Interventions to help identify patients and promote appropriate use of imaging and direct specialist centre referrals could improve earlier diagnosis and patient outcomes.PMID:38527792 | DOI:10.3399/BJGP.2023.0610 (Source: The British Journal of General Practice)

Should I Take Aspirin? (SITA): RCT of a decision aid for cancer chemoprevention
Conclusion The decision aid improved informed decision-making; but has little effect on long-term regular use of aspirin to reduce CRC risk.PMID:38527793 | DOI:10.3399/BJGP.2023.0385 (Source: The British Journal of General Practice)

Risk of Parkinson's disease in people with New Onset Anxiety over 50 years - Incidence and Associated Features
CONCLUSION: The risk of developing PD was at least doubled in people with anxiety compared to those without. The clinical features of those who developed PD can help identify patients presenting with anxiety who are in the prodromal phase of PD.PMID:38514045 | DOI:10.3399/BJGP.2023.0423 (Source: The British Journal of General Practice)

General practitioners' perspectives on diagnostic tests for children: a qualitative interview study
Conclusions The findings of this study identify actionable issues for clinicians, researchers, and policymakers to address gaps in education, evidence, and guidance, reduce unwarranted differences in test use and improve the quality of health care delivered to children in general practice.PMID:38499294 | DOI:10.3399/BJGP.2023.0469 (Source: The British Journal of General Practice)

Education to improve timeliness of shingles diagnosis: Cluster RCT and qualitative study
CONCLUSION: Our educational intervention did not improve the timely assessment of patients with shingles. This may be the result of poor intervention engagement.PMID:38499295 | DOI:10.3399/BJGP.2023.0477 (Source: The British Journal of General Practice)

Collaboration across the primary/specialist interface in early intervention in psychosis services: a qualitative study
Conclusions This study suggests that GPs should have a role in the support of people within EIP services (in particular monitoring and managing physical health) and their carers. Inclusion of GPs in managing discharge from EIP services is vital. We suggest that a joint consultation with the service user, their carer (if they wish) along with EIP care co-ordinator and GP would make this transition smoother.PMID:38499296 | DOI:10.3399/BJGP.2023.0558 (Source: The British Journal of General Practice)
