Distinguishing papillary endothelial hyperplasia and angiosarcoma on core needle biopsy of the breast: The importance of clinical and radiologic correlation
Abstract Papillary endothelial hyperplasia (PEH) is a rare non‐neoplastic exuberant organizing hematoma that can closely mimic angiosarcoma due to a resemblance to malignant anastomosing blood vessels. It could be particularly difficult to distinguish PEH from angiosarcoma in breast core needle biopsies. We identified all cases of these lesions diagnosed on core needle biopsy in order to identify clinical, radiologic, and pathologic features that could prove helpful to arrive at the correct diagnosis. Four cases of PEH and 4 cases of angiosarcoma were identified. The mean age at diagnosis was 62 for PEH and 33 for primar...

Poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma of the breast with Merkel cell features
We report a neuroendocrine breast carcinoma with Merkel cell features. The patient underwent breast conservation therapy and a sentinel lymph node biopsy. Unfortunately, the tumor was extremely aggressive and at 5 weeks postoperatively she presented with widely metastatic disease. Due to the aggressive nature of this tumor, we reviewed the literature and treatment options for this rare variant of a rare subtype. (Source: The Breast Journal)

Single arm phase II study of oral vitamin B12 for the treatment of musculoskeletal symptoms associated with aromatase inhibitors in women with early stage breast cancer
This study suggests that Vitamin B12 reduces pain and improves quality of life for patients taking AIs who experienced AI‐related musculoskeletal symptoms. If confirmed in large randomized prospective trials, Vitamin B12 would be a safe and cost‐effective option for the treatment of AI‐related musculoskeletal symptoms. (Source: The Breast Journal)

Successful cryoablation of breast cancer
Abstract The current standard of care for screen‐detected breast cancers is surgical excision. Cryotherapy is a promising non‐ surgical alternative treatment for these cancers and is performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient, circumventing the risks that come with an operation. New research also shows promising results for the treatment of breast cancer when cryotherapy is combined with immune modulation as it may help prevent tumor recurrence. We herein report a case of breast cancer treated successfully with cryoablation. A brief literature review of cryoablation as a treatment for breast cancer is added. (So...

Hidden estrogen production from ovarian remnants leading to progression of disease in metastatic breast cancer
We describe a case of ORS in a patient with estrogen receptor positive (ER+) breast cancer who had progression of disease after undergoing a BSO, despite optimal therapy. ORS therefore poses a significant treatment challenge in premenopausal ER+ breast cancer patients thought to be rendered menopausal with a BSO. (Source: The Breast Journal)
