Indications and Short-Term Outcomes for In-Office Therapeutic Superior Laryngeal Nerve Block
CONCLUSION: SLN block can be an effective component of treatment for a variety of ILS symptoms. Patients may experience some improvement after 1 injection.LAY SUMMARY: Symptoms of irritable larynx syndrome, such as neurogenic cough, paralaryngeal pain, inducible laryngeal obstruction, and dysphonia related to laryngeal hypersensitivity can be challenging to manage. In-office Superior Laryngeal Nerve blocks can serve as a quick, well tolerated, adjunctive treatment with positive short-term outcomes.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 4.PMID:37608685 | DOI:10.1177/00034894231194384 (Source: The Annals of Otology, Rhinology, and Laryngology)

Gender Differences in Quality of Life of Adolescent Patients With Chronic Rhinosinusitis
CONCLUSION: Female patients with CRS show higher subjective disease burden. Incorporating data on gender-specific differences may be important to personalize treatment decision making.PMID:37608693 | DOI:10.1177/00034894231195662 (Source: The Annals of Otology, Rhinology, and Laryngology)

The Upper Attachment of the Uncinate Process and Anterior Ethmoidal Artery
CONCLUSION: The course of the AEA through the nasal cavity was observed to shift anteriorly from the ethmoidal bulla to the frontal sinus in patients with UP attached to the lamina papyracea and middle turbinate. Remarkably, the AEA always coursed anterior from the middle nasal turbinate line.PMID:37608702 | DOI:10.1177/00034894231191311 (Source: The Annals of Otology, Rhinology, and Laryngology)

Endoscopic Perichondrium-Cartilage Myringoplasty With Preserving of Anterior Margins and Tuck Grafts for Repairing Anterior Perforation With 3 year Followup
CONCLUSIONS: Endoscopic perichondrium-cartilage myringoplasty with preserving of anterior margins and tuck grafts is a safe, suitable, and reliable method for repair of anterior perforation with few risk of anterior blunting and lateralization.PMID:37592410 | DOI:10.1177/00034894231194387 (Source: The Annals of Otology, Rhinology, and Laryngology)

Community Health Worker Intervention for Newborns Not Passing Initial Universal Hearing Screening
CONCLUSIONS: CHW outreach intervention may increase adherence to outpatient follow-up rescreening for newborns referred after initial, hospital-based UNHS. Expansion of nursery teams to include CHWs may thus improve completion of recommended follow-up hearing screens.PMID:37583099 | DOI:10.1177/00034894231191314 (Source: The Annals of Otology, Rhinology, and Laryngology)

The Prevalence and Association of Biofilms With Otitis Media With Effusion: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSION: The data presented in this study coincide with the significant role of bacterial biofilms in the pathogenesis of chronic otitis media with effusion. The involvement of bacterial biofilm as a component of the OME pathogenic process can help us to explain why antimicrobial therapy is not always effective in the eradication of the disease process and, also explain the recurrence of middle ear effusion after treatment with tympanostomy tubes either with or without adenoidectomy.PMID:37553806 | DOI:10.1177/00034894231188855 (Source: The Annals of Otology, Rhinology, and Laryngology)
