Childhood trauma, intraindividual reaction time variability, baseline respiratory sinus arrhythmia, and perceived relapse tendency among males with substance use disorders
Conclusion: The results suggest that males with SUDs who have experienced serious childhood trauma may have executive function impairments that contribute to relapse, and baseline RSA may buffer the negative effect of childhood trauma on IIRTV. These findings suggest that the prevention of relapse through cognitive enhancement can be complemented by the enhancement of physiological regulation.PMID:38078873 | DOI:10.1080/00952990.2023.2289006 (Source: The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse)

The effects of alcohol tax policies on alcohol consumption and alcohol use disorders in Mainland of China: an interrupted time series analysis from 1961-2019
Conclusion: This study demonstrates that changes in alcohol consumption and related consequences (increase or decrease) have followed corresponding changes in alcohol tax policies (easing or tightening), indicating that increasing alcohol taxes can be an effective strategy in China for controlling alcohol consumption and related harms.PMID:38059570 | DOI:10.1080/00952990.2023.2280948 (Source: The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse)

Addendum to "Evaluating substance use outcomes of recreational cannabis legalization using a unique co-twin control design"
We reported significant associations between RCL with greater cannabis frequency and fewer alcohol use disorder symptoms. The current study expands on our previous research by using a cross-sectional design and different measures of problems from cannabis and alcohol use and including additional substance use variables. The current study found similar results to our previous research.PMID:38014892 | DOI:10.1080/00952990.2023.2252573 (Source: The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse)
