Role of C-Reactive Protein as a Predictor of Difficult Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
CONCLUSION: C Reactive Protein is a potent predictor of difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy and its conversion preoperatively. Patients with preoperatively high C Reactive Protein CRP levels in serum have more chances of complication intraoperatively and increased chances of conversion from laparoscopic to open surgery. Preoperative C Reactive Protein (CRP) with values >11 mg/dL was associated with the highest odds of presenting difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy (DLC) in our study. This value possesses good sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPV for predicting DLC in our population.PMID:37926929 | DOI:10.1177/15...

Indocyanine Green Tattooing During Colonoscopy as a Guide to Laparoscopic Colorectal Cancer Surgery: A Literature Review
CONCLUSIONS: In laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery indocyanine green can be used to localize fluorescent tumors and mapping fluorescence lymph node. The use of ICG appears to be a valid and safe technique that helps the surgeon to achieve a better oncological radicality. However, the protocols need to be clarified by further studies.PMID:37923725 | DOI:10.1177/15533506231209127 (Source: Surgical Innovation)

Building Your Future Holographic Mentor: Can We Use Mixed Reality Holograms for Visual Spatial Motor Skills Acquisition in Surgical Education?
Surg Innov. 2023 Nov 2:15533506231211844. doi: 10.1177/15533506231211844. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLearning surgical skills require critical visual-spatial motor skills. Current learning methods employ costly and limited in-person teaching in addition to supplementation by videos, textbooks, and cadaveric labs. Increasingly limited healthcare resources and in-person training has led to growing concerns for skills acquisition of trainees. Recent Mixed Reality (MR) devices offer an attractive solution to these resource barriers by providing three-dimensional holographic representations of reality that mimic in-person ex...

Clinical Study on the Thoracodorsal Artery Perforator Flap in Breast-Conserving Reconstruction of T2 Breast Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: TDAPF, featuring a high survival rate, moderate flap area, fewer postoperative complications, and high satisfaction with breast shape after operation. For east asian women with moderate breast size, TDAPF is a safe, effective choice for repairing defects in breast-conserving surgery for T2 breast cancer.PMID:37899450 | DOI:10.1177/15533506231212785 (Source: Surgical Innovation)
