Large persistent trigeminal artery variant that supplied the subtotal cerebellar hemisphere and caused trigeminal neuralgia, which was diagnosed by magnetic resonance (MR) angiography and MR cisternography
ConclusionUsing MR angiography and MR cisternography, the author diagnosed a case of large PTA variant that caused trigeminal neuralgia. No similar case has been reported in the relevant English language literature. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Complete duplication of the posterior cerebral artery
ConclusionCareful imaging assessment is important for identifying complete duplication of the PCA. In addition to the direct findings of AChA identification, the indirect findings of the PCoA branching position and that the PCAs did not supply the AChA territory were also useful for diagnosis in this case. Analysis of risk variables for association with maxillary sinus mucosal thickenings: a cone-beam computed tomography-based retrospective study
ConclusionsWhile increased ostium height, decreased infundibulum length/width, the presence of periapical lesions and periodontal involvement might be the foremost indicator variables for MS mucosal thickenings, there are synergistic relationships among the increased sinus height and depth as well as aging regarding atrophic/partially atrophic alveolar process status and the presence of foreign materials that may be also associated with a greater proportion of these mucosal abnormalities. The relationship of distal femur and proximal tibia morphology with anterior cruciate ligament injuries
ConclusionsThe NW and TW measurements may give an idea about injury risk or prevention in morphological measurements. Correlations also show that the femur and tibia should consider together for ACL injuries. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Basilar artery formed by persistent primitive trigeminal artery: a case report
ConclusionNo study or case report has been identified in the English literature on persistent primitive trigeminal artery serving as the sole source of blood supply to basilar artery alone. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Surgical anatomy of the lingual lymph nodes: systematic literature analysis and proposition for topographic classification
ConclusionThe development and implementation of a unified anatomical topographic classification of LLN subgroups may be among the important conditions for improving the detection and treatment of LLN lesions. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Assessment of jugular bulb variability based on 3D surface models: quantitative measurements and surgical implications
ConclusionQualitative analysis in 3D models can contribute to a better spatial orientation in the lateral skull base and, thereby, have important implications during planning of middle ear and lateral skull base surgery. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Multidetector computed tomography angiography study of the renal arterial vasculature anatomy and its variations in a Bulgarian adult population
ConclusionThese results show novel insight into the prevalence of renal arterial variations in the Bulgarian population. Anatomic renal vasculature variants are common therefore awareness is crucial for the success of surgical and interventional procedures. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Extracranial hypoglossal neurofibroma with a variant ansa cervicalis: a case report
ConclusionThe anatomical variation and rare location of the tumor necessitate further investigation to better understand pathogenesis, clinical correlation, and surgical implications. This study furthers knowledge of this condition and contributes to the currently limited body of research. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Reappraisal of the proximal tibia anatomy in Turkish population
ConclusionThe morphometric data of tibial plateau are important for surgeons during total knee arthroplasty. The superoinferior and mediolateral dimensions of the Gerdy ’s tubercle, the distance between Gerdy’s tubercle and tibial tuberosity, the distance between Gerdy’s tubercle and lateral tibial plateau were measured for the first time in our study. The data obtained from this study can be used as a guideline in designing tibial component of the total knee prosthesis in Turkish population. In arthroplasty, patient-specific prosthetic implants may eradicate implant mismatch in the near future. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

The morphological classification and clinical significance of atlas vertebral artery sulcus based on computed tomography three-dimensional reconstruction
ConclusionNo process type of the atlas vertebral artery sulcus was the most common, and the medial angle and cephalad angle of the atlas pedicle in this type were the smallest. When pedicle screws are inserted, the above two angles should not be too large. Male's ao was larger than that of female's. All these findings should be considered to avoid the deviation of the nail track. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Unilateral developmental absence of internal carotid artery with contralateral middle cerebral artery occlusion
ConclusionsThis article highlights the importance of screening the head CT on bone window settings in case of the non-visualization of ICA to differentiate congenital absence from a steno-occlusive disease. It also illustrates the role of Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and MR Angiography (MRA) in demonstrating further possible vascular anomalies, structural brain malformations, and collateral circulation. An accessory muscle belly or an accessory muscle head? An unusual arrangement of muscles in the anterior compartment of the forearm
ConclusionThe cases described by previous literature, concerning the Linburg –Comstock variation or the accessory head of the first lumbrical muscle originating from the FPL muscle, are closest to the present case. Such variation has a clinical significance ranging from the functional limitation of the thumb and index finger movement to the potential median nerve compressi on. The morphometric analysis of mastoid foramen and mastoid emissary canal on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT)
ConclusionTo prevent surgical complications, particularly those that concern the temporal and mastoid areas, radiologists should report the results of the preoperative examination of the morphometry of the MF and MEC. CBCT imaging is a reliable diagnostic method that can be used to evaluate the MEC and MF before surgical procedures. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

A rare bilateral variant of the coracobrachialis muscle with supernumerary heads and coexisted variant branching patterns of the brachial plexus and the axillary artery
ConclusionsCourse and direction of the accessory CB heads may occasionally entrap the MCN and/or adjacent structures (brachial artery and MN). The MCN compression results in problems in the glenohumeral joint flexion and adduction, and tingling or numbness of the elbow joint, the forearm lateral parts and the hand.
