An unreported innervation of the coracobrachialis longus by the radial nerve: a potential pitfall for clinicians
ConclusionsThe brachial plexus (BP) is very variable and well understood. Nevertheless, we must remember that there may still be variations in its structure, which may involve problems at every stage of diagnosis and treatment of diseases associated with its structures. Their knowledge is extremely important. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Cross-subject variability of the optic radiation anatomy in a cohort of 1065 healthy subjects
ConclusionWe demonstrated inter-individual variability of the anatomy of the optic radiations on a large-scale study, especially their rostral extension. In order to better guide neurosurgical procedures, we built a MNI-based reference atlas of the optic radiations that can be used for fast optic radiation reconstruction from any individual diffusion MRI tractography. A posterior inferior cerebellar artery of C2 transverse foramen level origin that entered the spinal canal via the C1/2 intervertebral space demonstrated by computed tomography angiography
ConclusionWe reported the first case of PICA arising from the C2 transverse foramen level VA. CT angiography with bone imaging is useful for identifying a PICA arising from the extracranial VA. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Anatomical patterns of the sural nerve: a meta-analysis with clinical and surgical considerations
ConclusionsThe most prevalent SN formation pattern was the union of the medial sural cutaneous nerve with the lateral sural cutaneous nerve. We found differences regarding geographical subgroup and subject age. The most common SN formation sites were the lower and middle thirds of the leg. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Extremely long posterior cerebral artery P1 segment
ConclusionCareful imaging assessment was important for identifying the extremely long P1 segment of the PCA in the present case. This rare anatomical variation can also be confirmed by 1.5-T MRA. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Posterior inferior cerebellar artery originating from the posterior meningeal artery mimicking dural arteriovenous fistula
ConclusionWe present an anatomical variant of the PICA mimicking a dural arteriovenous fistula. Digital subtraction angiography is useful for diagnosis of the cortical segment of the PICA flowing retrograde from the distal segment of the PMA because signal intensity in MRA of retrograde flow tends to decrease and diagnosis may be difficult. During endovascular treatment and open surgery, we should note that ischemic complications may occur due to the potential anastomosing channels between cerebral and dural arteries. 180-degre carotid bifurcation with an internal carotid artery aneurysm
ConclusionIn our case, geometry of carotid bifurcation may have contributed to the ICA aneurysm, although there is no evidence for this correlation. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Agenesia of salivary glands: incidental findings in multidetector computerized tomography
AbstractAgenesis of the salivary glands is an extremely uncommon finding, and in the majority of cases, it is associated with facial syndromes or malformations. Reports in the literature have, however, indicated that agenesis of the major salivary glands can occur in isolation, and this anomaly is believed to occur due to a failure in the developmental process. Herein, we present two cases of isolated unilateral agenesis of major salivary glands. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Proximal ulna morphology in various pediatric population age groups: proximal ulna dorsal angulation (PUDA) and olecranon tip-to-apex (TTA) distance
ConclusionThe main study finding is that in most cases mean age-group values may serve as a template for proximal ulna fixation. There are some cases in which X-ray of contralateral elbow may provide surgeon with a better template.Level of evidenceII. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Botulinum neurotoxin injection in the deltoid muscle: application to cosmetic shoulder contouring
ConclusionWe propose that botulinum neurotoxin injections should be administered in the area between the 1/3 and 2/3 lines of the anterior and posterior deltoid bellies, and 2/3 to axillary line on middle deltoid bellies. Accordingly, clinicians will ensure minimal dose injections and fewer adverse effects of the botulinum neurotoxin injection. Deltoid intramuscular injections, such as vaccines and trigger point injections, should ideally be adapted according to our results. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

An unusual combination of a bilateral aberrant suprascapular artery with neurovascular structures variants
ConclusionsThe current study reported a bilateral aberrant SPSA, originating from the AA 1st part (left side) and from the dorsal scapular artery (right side), which coexisted with adjacent neurovascular structures ’ variants. The left SPSA atypically coursed below the superior transverse scapular ligament. Such an unusual combination of variations, present bilaterally in the current study, may be challenging for radiologists and surgeons. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Identification of anatomical types of segmental bronchi in right middle lobe using multi-slice CT
ConclusionThe current study has confirmed the presence of segmental bronchial variations in the RML lobe using 3D reconstruction and virtual bronchoscopy. These findings may have significant implications for the diagnosis of symptomatic patients and for carrying out specific procedures like bronchoscopy, endotracheal intubation, and lung resection. Anatomical analysis of the intramuscular distribution patterns of the levator scapulae and the clinical implications for pain management
ConclusionMost intramuscular nerve terminals can be found in the middle and distal portions of the levator scapulae muscle. Our findings improve our understanding of the intramuscular nerve distribution of the levator scapulae muscle and will aid in pain management in clinical practice. Retrospective evaluation of the morpometric and morphological anatomy of the occipital condyle, hypoglossal canal and foramen magnum in Turkish populaton with CBCT
ConclusionWhen the results of the study are evaluated, it is seen that the values obtained are generally close to the studies related to CT. Considering this, an idea can be gained as to whether CBCT, which has a lower dose and less cost, can be used as an alternative to CT in studies to be conducted with more comprehensive and different methods in skull base surgical plann ing.
