Studies on the reactivity of 23E-Benzylidene spirostanes
Publication date: Available online 22 July 2019Source: SteroidsAuthor(s): Manuel A. Ramos-Enríquez, Marcos Flores-Álamo, Martín A. Iglesias-ArteagaAbstractA study of the reactivity of 25R and 25S 23E-benzylidene spirostanes that includes epoxidation, catalytic hydrogenation as well as Lewis or Brønsted acid-catalyzed rearrangements is described. Exhaustive NMR characterization of the obtained compounds is presented. Additionally the structures of some of the obtained compounds were confirmed by single crystal X-Ray Diffraction studies.Graphical abstract (Source: Steroids)

Pokrovskii, Sergey V. Cheresis, Sergey V. Mishinov, Vyacheslav V. Stupak, Elvira E. ShultsAbstractIn an endeavour to develop potent anti-tumor agents from diosgenin, a series of C-6 derived 1,2,3-triazolyl derivatives were designed and synthesized by employing Cu(I) catalyzed Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of novel azides - (22R,25R)-6β-azidospirostan-3β,5α-diol and 6β-azido-7α-hydroxyspirosta-1,4-dien-3-one with aryl(hetar...

Additional studies on triamcinolone acetonide use and misuse in sports: elimination profile after intranasal and high-dose intramuscular administrations
We examined the urinary profiles of TA and its metabolites after INT and high-dose IM administrations. We also measured concentrations of TA and cortisol (CORT) in plasma following IM administration.TA was administered to healthy volunteers using INT route (220 μg/day for 3 days, n= 4 males and 4 females) or IM route (single dose of 40 mg, n= 4 males and 4 females and single dose 80 mg, n= 4 males). Urine and plasma samples were collected before and after administration at different time periods, and were analysed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.TA concentrations in urine were constant during 23 days aft...

Paxillin Regulated Genomic Networks in Prostate Cancer
Publication date: Available online 22 July 2019Source: SteroidsAuthor(s): Xiaoting Ma, Anindita Biswas, Stephen R. HammesAbstractPaxillin is extensively involved in focal adhesion signaling and kinase signaling throughout the plasma membrane and cytoplasm. However, recent studies in prostate cancer suggest that paxillin also plays a critical role in regulating gene expression within the nucleus, serving as a liaison between cytoplasmic and nuclear MAPK and Androgen Receptor (AR) signaling. Here we used RNA-seq to examine the transcriptome in several human prostate cancer cell lines. First, we examined paxillin effects on a...

Ursodeoxycholic acid inhibits ENaC and Na/K pump activity to restore airway surface liquid height in cystic fibrosis bronchial epithelial cells
In conclusion, we demonstrate a previously unknown effect of UDCA to inhibit ENaC activity and increase ASL height in normal and CF human airway epithelial cells suggesting a therapeutic potential for UDCA in CF lung disease. (Source: Steroids)
