Is there any additional effect of foot core training on dynamic function and balance in women with patellofemoral pain? A randomized controlled study
ConclusionIn conclusion, the results from this study indicate that the dynamic balance impairment is due to not only foot pronation but also the malalignment of knee biomechanics and pain in PFP patients. We believe that there may be a need for a longer training period to achieve improvements in PFP patients.Trail Registrationclinicaltrials.gov NCT03099512. (Source: Sport Sciences for Health)

The effects of chronic stress and exercise on mouse pancreatic islet of Langerhans morphology and muscle atrophy gene expression
ConclusionEight weeks of chronic stress increased β-cell proliferation and islet area, but did not increase muscle ubiquitin-associated atrophy gene mRNA levels. Exercise coupled with stress appeared to improve muscle protein accumulation, and therefore could be a potential means to reduce muscle losses under conditions of mild stress or β-cell d ysfunction. Relationship between maternal parenting styles with locomotion fundamental skills of male children with emphasis on body mass index
AbstractThe aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between maternal parenting style and locomotion fundamental skills (LFS) of male children with emphasis on body mass index (BMI). The statistical population of this study was 8- to 10-year-old boys of Kermanshah city in Iran. A random sample of 197 children (mean  = 8.74 ± 0.53) and their parents participated in this study and using the Bamrind parenting style questionnaire, maternal parenting style was measured. Also, BMI of parents and children was calculated and using Ulrich test, LFS of children were measured. Data were analyzed using Kendall'...

There is no bilateral deficit of torque and rate of torque development of knee extensors during isometric exertion when measured by two independent isokinetic machines
ConclusionAs isometric BDI was zero for torque and RTDs of bilateral showed not to be significantly different of unilateral, it is suggested that there is no BD during isometric test. As isometric and concentric BDI did not correlates, it is carefully suggested that isometric BDI may be accounted for intrinsic random error of measurement, while different mechanism may impact the BDI during non-stationary actions, and further studies with appropriate design should test such hypotheses. Jump-landing mechanics assessment using landing error scoring system in athletes with and without patellofemoral pain
ConclusionsThe LESS is a useful clinical test for evaluating landing errors in people with PFP. Greater kinesiophobia, pain, poorer self-reported function and psychological factors were correlated with a total LESS score. (Source: Sport Sciences for Health)

Distribution analysis of ECTS credits allocated to physical training sciences and methodology (M-EDF/01) and sport sciences and methodology (M-EDF/02) in Italian master ’s degree programs in exercise and sport sciences
ConclusionsThe heterogeneity of ECTS credits distribution allocated to ESS area (both aggregated and disaggregated by ADs), generate different undergraduate education, which varies according to the University at which one enrolls. Systemic action is needed to ensure the same education to students that choose the same master ’s degree course but in different sites. (Source: Sport Sciences for Health)

Relative age, biological maturation, body composition, and physical performance in under-16 academy soccer players: differences and associations among early and late born athletes
ConclusionsEB players outperformed their LB peers, which may be attributed to their more advanced biological maturation. In addition, maturity offset and RA were both associated to body composition and physical performance metrics in U16 male soccer players. (Source: Sport Sciences for Health)

The anthropometric profile and body composition of youth soccer goalkeepers after the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the maturity offset
ConclusionThe current study shows a relationship between the maturity offset and goalkeepers ’ anthropometric profile. The COVID-19 pandemic seemed to affect the abdominal obesity risk of pre-PHV children. (Source: Sport Sciences for Health)

Effect of ankle weight loading and walking speed on metabolic and neuromuscular responses and lower limb kinematics during treadmill walking
ConclusionOur results suggest that the effect of ankle weight loading on metabolic and neuromuscular responses is potentiated by a faster walking speed. (Source: Sport Sciences for Health)

Effects of HMB supplementation on hormonal adaptations following resistance training: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionsThe results of this meta-analysis demonstrated the efficacy of HMB supplementation (3  g daily HMB for 7 weeks) to provide greater changes compared with placebo supplementation in resting hormonal concentrations (i.e., testosterone, cortisol and IGF-1). Validity of neural networks in determining lower limb kinematics in stationary cycling
ConclusionTransPose seemed to perform better than MediaPipe but both methods presented poor performance when tracking the foot and ankle. This seems to be associated with the low frame rate and image resolution when using standard video mode. (Source: Sport Sciences for Health)
