Influence of irrigation solutions on human articular chondrocytes viability following mechanical or thermal injuryI
ConclusionsIrrigation solutions played an important role on the survival and metabolism of chondrocytes following injury. Ringer's solution and Balance salt had less adverse effect on chondrocyte survival after mechanical or thermal injury and were much more beneficial to cartilage repair than saline.RésuméObjectifsL’objectif de cette étude était d’examiner l’influence de différentes solutions d’irrigation sur la viabilité et le métabolisme des chondrocytes après une lésion mécanique ou thermique, en offrant des solutions d’irrigation appropriées pour la chirurgie arthroscopique.Équipement et méthode...

The role of body mass index on dynamic balance and muscle strength in Saudi schoolchildren
ConclusionsThe findings imply that increased BMI reduces balance ability in anterior reach direction (LQYBT) and none in other directions. The isometric strength of obese children was different from the healthy weight children.RésuméObjectifsLe but de cette étude est d’étudier les effets de l’augmentation de la masse corporelle sur la performance de l’équilibre dynamique (LQYBT) et la force musculaire isométrique (pic de couple de force) chez des écoliers de poids normal (HW), en surpoids (OW) et obèses (O).Équipements et méthodesÉtude transversale. Parmi les participants figuraient 51 écoliers de 12 à...

The effect of physical preparedness levels on serum levels of CC16, SP-D and lung function in endurance runners
Publication date: Available online 5 February 2020Source: Science & SportsAuthor(s): H. Pourmanaf, A. Hamzehzadeh, L. NikniazSummaryObjectivesEndurance runners are exposed to respiratory damages due to extreme endurance exercises. Increasing CC16 and SP-D in the bloodstream is a sign of respiratory tract damage. The purpose of this pilot study was to investigate the effect of physical preparedness levels on serum CC16 and SP-D levels and lung function.Equipment and methodsTen healthy male elite runners and ten healthy male recreational runners were recruited based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Lung permeability ...

The use of sonification for physiotherapy in human movement tasks: A scoping review
ConclusionSonification has the potential to support rehabilitation for physical therapy. Effects of sonification were varied and ranged from improvements in movement quality/control, increased movement and body-awareness and improvements in performance when compared with activities with audio-visual or non-specific audio-feedback among others. Data for sonification was mainly captured using inertial measurement units, smartphones and optical tracking devices but others are also commonly used. Well-designed clinical trials supported by current promising results need to be developed. We recommend testing different sonificati...

Short duration moderate resistance training reduces blood pressure and plasma TNF-α in hypertensive men: The importance role of upper and lower body training
ConclusionsIt seems that UBRT and LBRT lead to similar changes in reduction of blood pressure and risk factor for hypertension. Therefore, these trainings can be suitable substitutes for each other as an effective strategy to reduce the blood pressure in hypertensive men with joint-related musculoskeletal disorders and movement limitation in the upper or lower body. These findings suggest that short duration moderate UBRT and LBRT can be a valuable tool for the outstanding improvement of hypertension.RésuméObjectifsLe système immunitaire, le stress oxydatif et l’inflammation jouent un rôle important dans l’hyperten...

Effet de l’entraînement intermittent sur le rapport aporprotéineB/apoprotéineA–I, chez les enfants obèses atteints de syndrome métabolique
This study was to analyzed the effect of a 12-week intermittent training on the metabolic syndrome parameters and the ApoB/ApoA–I ratio in obese children.MethodFifty two obese children (body mass: 81,35 ± 3,1 kg, height: 1,62 ± 0,03 m, body mass index: 30,8 ± 0,7 kg/m2), 26 of whom participated in the intermittent training and 26 constituted the control group. Two maximal and metabolic exercises tests were performed one week apart before and after the training program to measure maximum oxygen consumption and lipid oxidation, respectively. Anthropometric measures, ApoA–I...
