Interdisciplinary multimodal pain therapy in postviral syndromes and ME/CFS : Features, pitfalls and model concept
Schmerz. 2023 Oct 20. doi: 10.1007/s00482-023-00761-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: Multimodal pain therapy usually take place in the context of group therapy lasting several weeks and is based on a generally activating approach. Due to the specificity of stress intolerance with postexertional malaise (PEM) in patients with postviral syndromes, physical as well as psychological overload must be urgently avoided in these cases; however, these aspects can only be insufficiently considered in current medical pain therapy concepts.METHODS: Summary of the current literature and presentation of clinical characterist...

Development and validation of a  questionnaire to assess physiotherapists' postural-structural-biomechanical-oriented beliefs about pain
CONCLUSION: The newly developed EKPQ questionnaire seems to be a reliable and valid assessment to determine physiotherapists' PSB-oriented beliefs about pain. The results also confirm that a high level of knowledge about the neurophysiology of pain does not exclude a PSB orientation. Whether the EKPQ can be used alongside the rNPQ as an additional assessment to evaluate beliefs about pain should be investigated in the future with suitable study designs, e.g. Delphi study.PMID:37845560 | DOI:10.1007/s00482-023-00757-y (Source: Schmerz)

Vasculitides
Schmerz. 2023 Oct 12. doi: 10.1007/s00482-023-00760-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn everyday clinical practice, immunologically mediated systemic vasculitides are among the rare diseases, meaning that basic knowledge of major symptoms and indicative laboratory findings is crucial for the inclusion of these complex clinical entities in differential diagnostic considerations. For many years, systemic vasculitides have been classified according to the primarily affected vessel size, distinguishing large, medium-sized, and small vessels. Pain is very often one of the main complaints of these diseases, be it, for example, t...

Concept-dependent and -independent care effects of site-specific care concepts using "pain" as an example
DISCUSSION: Commonalities and differences with regard to the topic of pain, as focused on here, and its organisational management become tangible as effects of the respective organisational structure (= concept-dependent) as well as concept-independent external influencing factors.PMID:37773298 | DOI:10.1007/s00482-023-00754-1 (Source: Schmerz)
