Associations between precarious employment trajectories and mental health among older workers in Germany: Vertical and horizontal inequalities
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings highlight horizontal and vertical inequalities with respect to exposure to and consequences of PE. Future labor market reforms should improve protection of women, who will likely be disadvantaged by accumulating employment-related mental health risks over the course of their lives.PMID:38573826 | DOI:10.5271/sjweh.4160 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Work, Environment and Health)

Impaired kidney function among young healthcare workers with long working hours and night work
Objectives We aimed to evaluate the association between long working hours, night work, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) among young healthcare workers. Methods We conducted a retrospective cohort study among healthcare workers in a tertiary medical center in Taiwan from 2002 to 2021. Other than physicians, all hospital employees aged 20–65 years with documented yearly working hours and an annual blood test including creatinine were eligible. We excluded participants with eGFR (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Work, Environment and Health)

The role of working conditions in educational differences in all-cause and ischemic heart disease mortality among Swedish men
Conclusion Even after accounting for earlier life factors, low job control and especially high physical workload seem to be important mechanistic factors in explaining educational inequalities in all-cause and IHD mortality. It is therefore important to find ways to reduce physical workload and increase job control in order to decrease inequalities in mortality. by Almroth M, Hemmingsson T, Falkstedt D, Kjellberg K, Carlsson E, Pan K-Y, Berglund K, Thern E. doi:10.5271/sjweh.4154 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Work, Environment and Health)

Does country of resettlement influence the risk of labor market marginalization among refugees? A cohort study in Sweden and Norway
Conclusions The relative risk of labor market marginalization varied by the refugees’ birth country but followed similar trends in Sweden and Norway. Although speculative, these findings may hint at non-structural factors related to the refugee experience playing a more important role than host country structural factors for the risk of labor market marginalization among refugees. Future research, including host countries with more variability in structural factors, is required to further investigate these associations. The higher risk of long-term unemployment among refugees with shorter length of stay indicates a need...

Can psychosocial risk factors mediate the association between precarious employment and mental health problems in Sweden? Results from a register-based study
Conclusion The results of this study did not provide evidence for the hypothesis that psychosocial risks could be the pathways linking precarious employment with workers` mental health. Future studies in different social contexts and labour markets are needed. by Méndez-Rivero F, Matilla-Santander N, Gunn V, Wegman DH, Hernando-Rodriguez JC, Kvart S, Julià M, Kreshpaj B, Bodin T, Hemmingsson T, Muntaner C, Padrosa E, Almroth M. doi:10.5271/sjweh.4157 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Work, Environment and Health)
