ERCP for the initial management of malignant biliary obstruction - real world data on 596 procedures
CONCLUSIONS: ERCP has a high rate of clinical effect and technical success in the management of both distal extrahepatic and perihilar MBO. Our data indicate that ERCP is a valid option in the first-line management of MBO.PMID:37994406 | DOI:10.1080/00365521.2023.2282375 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology)

Circulating cytokines and alcoholic liver disease: a two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization study
CONCLUSIONS: Our study supports that cytokines play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of ALD. To determine the mechanisms and pathways of action of these biomarkers, further basic research is required to ensure their clinical suitability for preventing and treating ALD.PMID:37994815 | DOI:10.1080/00365521.2023.2286190 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology)

The impact of proactive versus reactive drug monitoring of infliximab on treatment outcomes in patients with crohn's disease
CONCLUSIONS: Proactive TDM of IFX plays a more crucial role in timely adjustment of treatment strategies and maintenance of effective concentrations, thereby contributing to the outcomes for CD patients.PMID:37991266 | DOI:10.1080/00365521.2023.2283387 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology)

A prognostic model based on tumor microenvironment and immune cell in colorectal cancer
CONCLUSION: The prognostic signature comprising HAMP, ADAM8, and CD1B based on immune cells was established, providing a theoretical basis and reference value for the research of CRC.PMID:37978827 | DOI:10.1080/00365521.2023.2281252 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology)

Gastric volumetry for the assessment of fundic compliance and visceral hypersensitivity in patients with gastroparesis: a retrospective comparative study
CONCLUSION: This pilot study suggests that GP could be associated with a reduced gastric volume compared to GERD in RLD after gaseous distension. In contrast, patient self-assessment of pain related to gastric distension was greater int GP patients. A lack of fundus accommodation and visceral hypersensitivity could explain some mechanisms in the genesis of GP symptoms.PMID:37975245 | DOI:10.1080/00365521.2023.2279928 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology)

Recurrence rate after piecemeal endoscopic mucosal resection of & lt;20  mm non-pedunculated colorectal lesions: should we worry about the risk?
CONCLUSION: Although the early RR after pEMR of 10-19 mm NPL is significantly lower compared to ≥ 20 mm NPL, it is non-negligible (10.5%) and appears to be the highest among 15-19 mm NPL. The size of the lesion was the only independent risk factor for RR. Our findings should be accounted in the selection of the most appropriate post-polypectomy endoscopic surveillance.PMID:37970898 | DOI:10.1080/00365521.2023.2278425 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology)

Anti-drug antibodies against anti-TNF in patients with inflammatory bowel disease: an evaluation of possible strategies
CONCLUSIONS: Switching therapy, within or out of class, is the most successful strategy to regain and maintain clinical remission upon immunogenicity. When switching to another anti-TNF, concomitant immunomodulatory therapy should be started or continued to prevent repeated immunogenic loss of response. Anti-TNF dose escalation with concomitant immunomodulator optimisation is the fastest and most effective strategy to suppress ADA.PMID:37961895 | DOI:10.1080/00365521.2023.2278424 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology)
