Traumatic corneal flap avulsion and loss 13 years after LASIK
We report a case of a 54-year-old man that presented a traumatic total flap avulsion and loss 13 years after LASIK. According to our knowledge, this is the longest time reported in such a case in the literature. Medical treatment yielded an acceptable visual result. Submacular Hemorrhage Secondary to Age-Related Macular Degeneration Managed with Vitrectomy, Subretinal Injection of Tissue Plasminogen Activator, Hemorrhage Displacement with Liquid Perfluorocarbon, Gas Tamponade, and Face-down Positioning
ConclusionVitrectomy, subretinal tPA injection, hemorrhage displacement with liquid perfluorocarbon, gas tamponade and face-down positioning was associated with improved visual outcomes in patients with hemorrhagic neovascular AMD. Infected conjunctival pyogenic granuloma at strabismus surgery site mimicking conjunctival abscess
We present a rare case of infected pyogenic conjunctival granuloma mimicking a conjunctival abscess as complication of strabismus surgery in a Saudi girl with exotropia. Despite administration of local antibiotics following strabismus surgery, a patient presented with localised redness and discharge after three weeks. The patient was afebrile with no signs of pre-septal or orbital cellulitis. After culture (Staphylococcus aureus) sensitivity testing the patient was prescribed oral Amoxicillin and Clavulanate and reviewed under general anaesthesia. Outcomes of Esotropia Surgery in Saudi Arabia: An Audit from a Single Center
ConclusionsExcellent outcome of esotropia surgery in this study is comparable to outcomes reported internationally using the goal determined metrics. Quality improvement processes like the Pareto chart are simple to use and helpful for determining the risk factors associated with poor surgical outcomes after esotropia correction from different etiology.
