The distribution of near point of convergence in an Iranian rural population: A population-based cross-sectional study
ConclusionThe distribution of NPC in the Iranian population is different from other populations. Since NPC is influenced by age more than any other variable and presented normal values according to age in this study, the results can be used to interpret clinical measurements for diagnosis and treatment purposes. Rosai-Dorfman Disease: Isolated Epibulbar Mass in Patient with Vernal Keratoconjunctivitis
Publication date: Available online 4 May 2019Source: Saudi Journal of OphthalmologyAuthor(s): Saad S. Alharbi, Deepak EdwardAbstractA 29-year-old male known case of vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) presented with 5-month history of a rapidly growing mass on the temporal aspect of the right cornea. The 9X9 mm epibulbar lesion was excised and histologically showed features of extranodal Rosai Dorfman disease (RDD) with emperipolesis of eosinophils. The lesion did not recur following excision. The association of RDD with VKC has not been previously reported; however, the causal relationship remains unclear. (Source: Saudi Jo...

Retained intracameral cotton fibers following phaco-vitrectomy
This report describes a 76-year-old female who presented with cotton fibers retained in the anterior chamber following a combined phaco-vitrectomy. These fibers did not cause any complications in her postoperative course. This observation has not been previously reported in association with a combined anterior segment-posterior segment surgery. Retained cotton fibers are typically inert and do not require intervention. However, this iatrogenic postoperative complication should be avoided if possible, and several approaches for how to do so are discussed. (Source: Saudi Journal of Ophthalmology)

Scleral Avulsion after Ahmed Valve M4 Removal
We report a case of intraoperative scleral avulsion that occurred during explantation of an Ahmed M4 valve. A 79-year-old female with open angle glaucoma with a history of glaucoma drainage device (GDD) implantation presented for routine follow-up. The ophthalmic examination indicated a focal implant exposure. The patient was scheduled for explanation of tube and plate and placement of alternate GDD. During implant removal, a horse-shoe shaped scleral avulsion was noted with softening of the globe and uveal and vitreous prolapse. The case was converted to an open globe repair and further glaucoma intervention was deferred....
