Portuguese Advance Directives-a twist against futility? A cross sectional study
CONCLUSION: The authors suggest that all citizens should be clarified regarding the futility concept before filling out the Advance Directives and propose a grammatical change in the document, replacing the phrase "Health Care to Receive / Not to Receive" with the sentence "Health Care to Accept / Refuse" so that patients cannot demand treatments, but instead accept or refuse the proposed therapeutic plans.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov ID NCT05090072.URL: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT05090072.PMID:38536997 | DOI:10.1590/1516-3180.2022.0537.R2.201023 (Source: Sao Paulo Medical Journal)

Isotemporal substitution analysis of time between sleep, sedentary behavior, and physical activity on depressive symptoms in older adults: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: The results of the present study indicate that replacing SB with the same amount of sleep or MVPA may reduce depressive symptoms. The longer the reallocation time, the greater are the benefits.PMID:38511771 | PMC:PMC10950321 | DOI:10.1590/1516-3180.2023.0144.R2.04122023 (Source: Sao Paulo Medical Journal)

Case report of scrub typhus complicated by hypokalemia and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome
CONCLUSION: This report highlights the potential for atypical presentations of scrub typhus, including a previously undocumented association with hypokalemia. Although the contribution of hypokalemia to the patient's clinical course remains uncertain, this case underscores the importance of considering electrolyte imbalance in the management of patients with scrub typhus. Further research is warranted to better understand the relationship between scrub typhus and electrolyte imbalance.PMID:38477775 | PMC:PMC10926963 | DOI:10.1590/1516-3180.2023.0142.R1.08122023 (Source: Sao Paulo Medical Journal)
