In young patients with stroke of undetermined etiology, large vessel occlusions are less frequent in the group with high-risk patent foramen ovale
CONCLUSION: The presence of LVO could represent a "red flag" of PFO causality in stroke of undetermined etiology, and could be implemented in future PFO-related stroke classifications.PMID:38102053 | DOI:10.1016/j.neurol.2023.11.002 (Source: Revue Neurologique)

Focused ultrasounds: What is their future in epileptology? A critical review
Rev Neurol (Paris). 2023 Dec 12:S0035-3787(23)01145-1. doi: 10.1016/j.neurol.2023.10.014. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHigh intensity focused ultrasounds (HIFU) are being increasingly advocated as a useful tool in the management of focal drug-resistant epilepsy. Our aim was to review current literature on the topic and perform an inventory of open trials assessing HIFU effectiveness and safety in epilepsy management. To do so, a review was conducted and yielded one prospective clinical trials, two case reports and one safety study were retrieved, indicating that HIFU is still in its infancy when it comes to focal drug-res...

Management of lower urinary tract symptoms in Parkinsonian disorders
CONCLUSION: Urodynamic evaluation is the cornerstone of diagnostic management of LUTS in patients with PD. Therapeutic management is above all symptomatic and must be done in a collegial way involving the urologist, neurologist, gynecologist, and physical medicine and rehabilitation physician.PMID:38092575 | DOI:10.1016/j.neurol.2023.10.011 (Source: Revue Neurologique)

SWI versus GRE-T2*: Assessing cortical superficial siderosis in advanced cerebral amyloid angiopathy
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that SWI ratings could show more disseminated cSS and higher multifocality scores in advanced CAA patients with inter-rater reliability equivalent to that obtained using GRE-T2*, regardless of level of experience.PMID:38061969 | DOI:10.1016/j.neurol.2023.10.008 (Source: Revue Neurologique)
