Severe systemic vasculitis induced by ibrutinib
CONCLUSION: The mechanism of action of ibrutinib does not explain the occurrence of vasculitis and an immunoallergic mechanism is suspected.PMID:37951781 | DOI:10.1016/j.revmed.2023.10.448 (Source: Revue de Medecine Interne)

Amatoxin-containing mushroom poisoning: An update
Rev Med Interne. 2023 Nov 8:S0248-8663(23)01219-5. doi: 10.1016/j.revmed.2023.10.459. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAmatoxin-containing mushroom poisoning occurs after consumption of certain mushroom species, of the genera Amanita, Lepiota and Galerina. Amanita phalloides is the most implicated species, responsible for over more than 90% of mushroom-related deaths. The α-amanitin is responsible for most of the observed effects. Symptoms are characterized by severe delayed gastrointestinal disorders (more than six hours after ingestion). The liver being the main target organ, outcome is marked by an often severe hepatitis ...

Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis: A retrospective analysis of 66 patients
In this study, we analyzed the data of 66 patients: the objective was to describe the epidemiological, clinical, biological and therapeutic characteristics and to compare our results with those already published.METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study at the University Hospital of Montpellier from 2015 to 2021. Patients were included when the diagnosis of HLH was mentioned on the hospitalization report and when the HSCORE was higher than 50% (169). Prognostic analyses were performed by comparing the patients who died from HMH to those who didn't.RESULTS: The mean age the 66 patients included was 49.2 years, 62% were me...

Pulmonary hypertension in connective tissue diseases: What every CTD specialist should know  - but is afraid to ask!
Rev Med Interne. 2023 Nov 2:S0248-8663(23)01212-2. doi: 10.1016/j.revmed.2023.10.450. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPulmonary hypertension (PH) is a possible complication of connective tissue diseases (CTDs), especially systemic sclerosis (SSc), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD). It is defined by an elevation of the mean pulmonary arterial pressure above 20mmHg documented during a right heart catheterization (RHC). Due to their multiorgan involvement, CTDs can induce PH by several mechanisms, that are sometimes intricated: pulmonary vasculopathy (group 1) affecting arterioles (pu...
