Comparative study of 18F-FDG PET/CT and CT angiography in the detection of large vessel vasculitis
ConclusionThe results show the greater potential of 18F-FDG PET/CT for the detection and extension of LVV. Therefore, 18F-FDG PET/CT should be exploited to the maximum and consider as the first line imaging technique in the extracranial diagnosis of LVV and its possible association with polymyalgia rheumatica. The addition of CTangio could be more indicated in patients with Takayasu arteritis and in long-standing and/or severe vasculitis since it increases the accuracy in the detection of possible vascular complications.

Is there any improvement in clinical staging with 18F-FDG PET/CT compared to surgical staging in cases of lung cancer?
ConclusionsThe concordance between cTNM and sTNM was better in staging T category compared to N stations. Semiquantitative measures of primary tumor may play a role in predicting postsurgical upstaging. Taking MTV into consideration in the mediastinal region may be more valuable than other parameters in the assessment of nodal involvement.

Relationships between hypoxia induced factor-1α and 18F-FDG PET/CT parameters in colorectal cancer
ConclusionAlthough the presence of a positive correlation between tumour SUVmax and %TmNcr shows that there are hypoxic cells in cancer tissue with high FDG uptake, the relationship between the presence of HIF-1α and enhanced glucose metabolism and pathological prognostic factors of tumour was not shown. Strong nuclear immunohistochemical staining in tumour cells adjacent to invasive border and inflammatory cells leads us to believe that HIF-1α plays a role in the invasion area of tumour microenvironment.

Prognostic importance of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose uptake by positron emission tomography for stage III non-small cell lung cancer treated with definitive chemoradiotherapy
ConclusionsPre-treatment SUVmax of LNs had prognostic value in patients treated with definitive concurrent chemoradiotherapy for stage III NSCLC. In future trials, pre-treatment SUVmax of the LNs would serve as a guide for patients who might benefit from more aggressive treatments.

Global heterogeneity assessed with 18F-FDG PET/CT. Relation with biological variables and prognosis in locally advanced breast cancer
ConclusionsBreast tumors in our LABC dataset behaved as homogeneous and spherical lesions. Larger volumes were associated with a lower sphericity. Global heterogeneity variables and sphericity do not seem to have a predictive role in response to NC nor in OS. More spherical tumors with less variation in gray intensity between voxels showed a lower risk of recurrence.

Four years of clinical experience with Radium-223 for the treatment of castration-resistant prostate cancer
ConclusionsRadium-223 was generally well tolerated and there were no safety concerns. The adverseevents were mild and manageable. A decline in serum alkaline phosphatase was more frequent than a decline in the prostate-specific antigen. Monitoring changes in serum alkaline phosphatase dynamics may be useful.
