Diagnosis and treatment of hindfoot osteoid osteoma: A therapeutic method for each case
ConclusionsThe diagnosis of an OO of the hindfoot can be ensured when the epidemiological, clinical and imaging data are compatible with this pathological entity. RFA is indicated for intracortical or cancellous cases in which the nidus is more than 1 cm off the skin and significant neurovascular structures. For all other cases an open surgical resection or arthroscopic resection would be the first choice.ResumenObjetivos1) Recordar el diagnóstico de los osteomas osteoides (OO) del pie; y 2)definir las indicaciones de su tratamiento en el retropié.Material y métodoSe han revisado un total de 5 ost...

Proximal humerus chondrosarcoma. Long-term clinical and oncological outcomes
ConclusionProximal humerus chondrosarcoma presented high survival rates. Curettage and bone grafting is a safe procedure, with low risk of complications and local recurrence for grade 1 chondrosarcomas and should be the first indication for the proximal humerus. Reconstruction of the proximal humerus after a wide resection has a 5-year failure rate of 27% and 10-year failure rate of 34%.ResumenIntroducciónEl húmero proximal es una localización frecuente de los sarcomas óseos y el condrosarcoma representa el 15%. Existen pocos trabajos sobre este grupo seleccionado de tumores. El objetivo del est...

ConclusionsDue to a lack of long series of cases of osteosarcoma in the mobile spine during childhood, the optimal treatment and prognosis in these patients is uncertain. Block resection improves local control of the disease, without demonstrating improvement in overall survival. Intralesional resection is associated with a higher rate of local recurrence. Oncological treatment is essential in the treatment of this pathology. Experimental validation of finite elements model in hip fracture and its clinical applicability
ConclusionThe FEA computational model developed by this multi-disciplinary research team could be considered, as a whole, a complete FEA model of the proximal extremity of the femur with future clinical applicability since it was able to simulate and imitate the biomechanical behaviour of human femurs contrasted with a traditional experimental model made from anatomical specimens. Cost of osteoporotic hip fracture in Spain per Autonomous Region
ConclusionsOHF place a large burden on Spanish Regional Health Systems, including high economic costs. We found notable differences in mean costs across the Regions, mainly caused by the differential length of the first hospital stay and the outpatient care in subsequent months. These differences may be associated with differences in surgical delay. Leiomyosarcomas affecting main vessels in the lower extremities
Discussion and conclusionsVascular leiomyosarcomas are highly aggressive tumours with a low survival rate at 5 years. In our study, 50% of the patients remain in complete remission with a mean follow-up of 23 months. Their onset frequently associates the presence of tumour mass with thrombotic phenomena (33% of our cases). Scaphoid–trapezium hereditary coalition. A case report
We present a case of bilateral intercarpal coalition between the trapezium and scaphoid as an incidental finding, confirming its hereditary origin since a parent has the same bilateral coalition. Lumbar arthrodesis infection by multi-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae, successfully treated with implant retention and ceftazidime/avibactam
We present the first case of infection of a lumbar instrumentation by Klebsiella pneumoniae producing carbapenemase D, OXA-48 type, and successfully treated.

Analysis of the order-implantation relationship for musculoskeletal tissue transplantation
DiscussionA non-utilization rate of 30% was identified, of which 17% was from surgery that was not performed and 13% from surgery that was performed, but the tissue was returned to the tissue bank, because it was not required. In a further 10% there was partial return of the tissue. Based on this analysis, we consider that it is important to have direct confirmation of the surgery to avoid sending tissue for discontinued surgeries, since in addition to the economic impact, the bank must ensure adequate temperature maintenance during transportation and storage in the transplantation centre, to avoid discarding said tissue i...
