Evolution of the degree of disease knowledge in subjects who have suffered an ischaemic stroke
Rev Neurol. 2021 Mar 16;72(6):187-194. doi: 10.33588/rn.7206.2020475.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: The delay in seeking medical care in patients who suffer a cerebrovascular disease (CVD) event depends, largely, on knowledge of the disease. Our aim is to study the evolution of the knowledge of patients admitted to hospital due to an ischaemic stroke.PATIENTS AND METHODS: A structured interview was used to determine the level of knowledge of CVD (terminology, risk factors, symptoms and attitude) of patients admitted due to an ischaemic stroke without language impairment or cognitive impairment in two distinct time periods: January ...

Rev Neurol. 2021 Mar 16;72(6):195-202. doi: 10.33588/rn.7206.2020518.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: Quality of life (QoL) is an important aspect in the treatment of patients with epilepsy.AIM: To analyse the QoL using the Quality of Life in Epilepsy Inventory-10 (QOLIE-10) in adults with idiopathic generalised epilepsy and to study factors associated with a worse QoL.PATIENTS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional, multicentre, observational study conducted by 141 neurologists in all the autonomous communities of Spain. Each researcher analysed the QOLIE-10 of two males and two females over 18 years of age with idiopathic generalised epile...

Effectiveness of motor imagery in patients with multiple sclerosis: a systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: MI and its combination with relaxation exercises have been shown to be effective in the treatment of fatigue, gait, balance, depression and QoL in patients with MS. The action observation therapy is useful in upper limb rehabilitation and improvement in attention, executive control and activation of sensorimotor networks. Further research with high methodological quality is needed to support these findings and to evaluate their effectiveness in long term.PMID:33616198 | DOI:10.33588/rn.7205.2020436 (Source: Revista de Neurologia)

Psychological interventions on fetal alcohol spectrum disorder across the life span
CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate that psychological treatments focused on emotional and behavioral regulation, social skills training and family interventions are the most evidenced treatments for these patients. These treatments are based on cognitive-behavioral principles and include school-age children. However, more research is needed on psychological interventions for adults with FASD. Despite the progress in psychological interventions for FASD, the research still reflects highlighted limitations.PMID:33616199 | DOI:10.33588/rn.7205.2020639 (Source: Revista de Neurologia)
