“Radiopacity of Resin Cements Evaluated with Digital Radiographic Technique”
Conclusione s: Se determinó que existen diferencias en la radiopacidad entre los cementos de resina compuesta estudiados. Sin embargo, todos los cementos evaluados cumplen con la norma ISO-4049 de radiopacidad.ABSTRACT: Objective: Compare the radiopacity of different resin cements and verify their compliance with the requirements of ISO regulations. Material and method: Samples -10 mm in diameter and 1 mm thickness- of the resin cements RelyX U200 (3M ESPE), Calibra (Dentsply Sirona), Universal Calibra (Dentsply Sirona) and Bifix SE (VOCO) were prepared. Radiographies of the samples with a stepped aluminum wedge were...

Relation between the Natural Head Position and the Frankfort Plane
Conclusiones: Al encontrarse los pacientes en PNC existe una diferencia estadística entre el PF trazado en tejidos blandos y la horizontal verdadera.ABSTRACT: Aims: The aim of this study was to compare the parallelism between the Frankfort Plane (FP) traced in soft tissues and the true horizontal plane when the patient is in the Natural Head Position (NHP). Methods: The sample included 97 volunteers. A profile facial photograph of each of the participants was taken and the angulation of the FP traced in soft tissues was then analyzed with Photoshop ® software. T-test was used to determine if there was statistical di...

Effectiveness of fibrin-rich plasma and collagen membrane in guided bone regeneration.
Conclusion: During the first 15 days of healing, PRF induces a greater cellular proliferation than the other groups in a significant way; after 30 days, the proliferation is similar to the collagen membrane group without significant differences. Erratum to «Aesthetic crown lengthening prior to prosthetic rehabilitation. Case report.»
This study describes a case in which the use of phenytoin and phenobarbital anticonvulsant associated with the presence of dental plaque provided a large and severe extent of gingival alteration. We concluded that it was possible to achieve a good result in the patient with an intensive mechanical control of dental plaque, oral hygiene orientations and substitution of the drug for other alternative medication. Mandibular defects reconstruction: The use of an acrylic block as a space and contour maintainer of the oral tissues.
Discussion: Functional and esthetic implications of mandibular resection sequelae mandate a thorough reconstruction of the lasting defects. By the proposed procedure a better prognosis for the reconstruction is achieved when using a bone graft in the setting of a lesion communicated with the oral environment, allowing good morphological and functional results. Association between the use of statins and periodontal status: a review
Conclusions: Statins can affect periodontal status, increasing the gain in clinical attachment and decreasing gingival bleeding, probing depth and the magnitude of bone defects. For this reason, statins represent an excellent support measure for conventional periodontal therapy. Specifically, positive effects are seen for local delivery of statins as an adjunct treatment to scaling and root planing (SRP) at doses of 1.2 to 2%. Statins could be administered through topical delivery via direct injection in the periodontal pocket or by brushing with medicated dentifrices. More studies with appropriate designs should evaluate...

The influence of cortical perforations on guided bone regeneration: A literature review
Discussion and conclusion: Sixty five articles were identified and only 8 were selected. Four studies in animals showed statistically significant influence when performing cortical perforations. In 3 studies in animals and in 1 human study this difference was not statistically significant. However, when drilling, a greater number of blood vessels and a greater bone formation without inflammatory reactions or negative impacts were recorded. Cortical perforations show benefits in early stages of healing, influencing significantly in the angiogenesis, increasing the amount of neoformed bone. (Source: Revista clinica de perio...

Knebelman craniometric method: clinical modification to simplify the determination of the Vertical Occlusal Dimension.
Conclusion: There is no perfect agreement between the two distances, but the overestimates analysis allows us to modify the Knebelman method for its clinical application without Craniometer, establishing that the clinical distance from the facial tragus furrow to the external angle of the eye minus 5 mm. allows us to evaluate or establish the Vertical Occlusal Dimension.
